After the California ASKHER V BROWN and the Arizona PARSON V RYAN Class Action Lawsuits, Alot has changed in there. I was in AZ SUPER MAX CALLED SMU for SPECIAL MANAGEMENT UNIT 2 in Florence, AZ, back in 2007 and 2008.. I was there when the Inmates won the first phase of the Lawsuits.. In August of 2007, we were finally permitted to have electronics in our cells, such as televisions and Walkman radios, plus we were allowed to start purchasing commissary, like sodas, chips, cookies, etc. Prior to that, we were only allowed to buy hygiene items and writing materials, nothing else.. In the state I did time in I was a minimum security level inmate in classification(a 2/1) yet because of my past history they kept me in SUPERMAX for years. I went home from supermax. Believe me, if they want to keep you in there they can. If they want to beat your ass they will in those kind of places. If for whatever reason a guard has a grudge against you he'll set you up to get your ass kicked by the goonsquad. That guard might have personal issues going on in his life(girlfriend broke up with him) and because he's feeling shitty he'll set you up to go to the rec pen and claim you refused to cuff up and next thing you know the goon squad shows up and rushes you. The guards that work in SUPERMAX are EVIL, truly EVIL. Would you want a job where you beat 100 to 500 prisoners in a year? I did 16 years in prison and most of it in SUPERMAX and believe me, I've seen the guards do wicked, brutal horrifying beatings. They get off on it. If they beat an average man in society like they do us prisoners in supermax, they'd be doing a lot of time in prison for those beatings.

Not always the situation.. Many Locked Down in there are mentally sick and have mental health problems.. People with Schizophrenia and Bi Polar act out and are disciplined and sent there. A majority of them committed suicide in this type of Housing. I was one of them Inmates in AZ PRISON with Depression and Anxiety, along with Untreated ADHD at that time in 2007, when I was sent to the Special Management Unit in Florence, AZ.. Right now AZ DEPT of Corrections and California have both been in CONTEMPT OF COURTand NON COMPLIANCE for their Settlement Agreement Terms, especially with the Mentally Sick Locked in those Environments. That type of Housing was a 8th Amendment Violation to Cruel and Unusual Punishment for what is called CONDITIONS OF CONFINEMENT... MADRID V GOMES of 1990m addressed this issue of the Mentally Ill not allowed to be hous3ed in this Environment, causing our mental illness to worsen and now most of us have PTSD from Surviving that Traumatic Experience. Untill you've experienced it or someone close to you in your life, then you'll have a different Viewpoint or perspective about that UNCONSTITUTIONAL SUICIDE TORTURE CHAMBER.. The mentally ill had a 60 percent higher suicide rate in there, than in the normal General Population prisons, where they can program like AA and NA, go to school or get a GED, Work, and go outside to socialize with other humans, etc..That was Deemed INHUMANE by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals..
