This is Shuai Jiao (or chiao). It is approx 500 years old and is (supposed to be) the basis for all throwing arts. It is a really good art to learn and is currently taught to Chinese Police and Military! : )

500 years-old is a large understatement. Shuai Jiao much, much, older than that. Possibly you should research it further.
