The regular version doesn't interest me much weight-wise, but this ultra light version has perked my interest. I'm such a believer in an under quilt system in my gathered end hammocks. I can swap out depending on weather. I'm on the fence with just the camp pad system or having to carry two pads to boost your butt thermal rating. I really like the bug net on this version. Every stich on this thing is so well thought out, thanks for sharing .

I've been sleeping every single night on my Draumr since summer of 2021. That's 1,048 nights. I originally got it because I've never had a comfortable nights sleep camping. I tried it in my back yard for 4 nights and it was so comfortable I gave away my bed/mattress/frame and built a frame to hang it in my bedroom. My room is 8 ft x 6 ft and this is the only hammock that will fit. The key to getting in and out is making sure your body is in the center of the hammock. Right between the center straps. I get in by facing the hammock, placing my left knee on the center of the pad, left hand on the top of the pad, right hand on the right center strap, push the pad down as I put my body weight on my knee while using my right hand to steady myself, and slide my body onto the hammock and laying on my left side in one motion. In the summer I use an uninsulated pad and insulated in winter. I have trouble sleeping when I'm over heated and the hammock lets me be comfortable up to 80F. In winter the thermostat is set for 65F and my room is generally 55F. The top quilt I use is 650 fill and I sleep in a sweat shirt and pants and thick socks. Below 55F, I will clip a second quilt on top of the first one. I use tiny carabiners to clip the corners of the top quilt to the metal d rings on the top straps. That way the quilt stays in place when I roll around. Getting in and out , I move the top quilt biner, from whatever side I get out of, to the ridgeline and reverse when I get back in. I never quite got the knack of getting in and out of a sleeping bag in a hammock. There have been no rips/tears anywhere on the hammock as of 4/14/24. I weigh 220 lbs and the hammock easily supports that. Get the tiny spreader bars for the ends. I drove myself crazy trying to find a suitable material and getting it to fit in the tiny pockets but also long enough it doesn't fall out is a difference of MM's.

Oh my gawd. Why didn’t I watch this before my failed canoe trip last week ( or should I say unplanned swim expeditions) LMAO. That bug net drove me nuts on my regular Amok. I didn’t realize what that cord was for. lol. Guess reading instructions may have fixed that issue lol. I also think I am hanging too high. I flipped completely in the head position last week. Laughing all the way lol. Feet up in the air, head on the ground or near it. I’m guessing my tension is too much and the angle is wrong. I have a hell of a time getting!in and out of it. The pad seems to create a ridge when I lay in different positions, kinda like caf ridge in a way. I also got a small hole in my tarp. Looks like one of the stakes poked through the fabric on the pocket. Oh well, thems the breaks. Keep up the good work. I just ordered one of your prints, the hammock in the woods. For backpacking, even the UL amok is too heavy for my tastes. A true ultralight gathered end hammock like a trailheadz banshee ul is 11.5 oz for 275 lbs. Their poltergeist ul is 8 oz for 175 lbs. Shug, have you tried either of those? For now I'm still sticking with my superiorgear hammock. However! For canoe camping in the boundary waters this summer/fall, I could see trying out the amok draumr ultralight xl. That chair mode had me straight envious, thinking about having morning hot chocolate while watching the sunrise, with the loons calling.
@shugemery7 ай бұрын
Well sometimes you just want a different ride. Small price to pay for chair/recline mode. Never tried the Trailheadz hammocks. Got too many hammocks already. Sitting down by a lake in the BWCA sure would be nice. Might have to ferry mine in.

Hi Shug, Ely, UK here. Exped do down filled sleep pad (still needs inflating but it has or had a built in pump system) that has the baffles runnIng head to toe and is rated down to minus 38 Celsius, I've had mine down quite a lot lower some reflective, might be worth you having a look, might even beat your under quilt.

i have always enjoyed your amok draumr videos but dang it, now i want one! have you ever figured out how many hammocks are too many for one person to own?😹 i do enjoy velcro on my tarp lines (eno profly), i find many uses for them and they do make me more tidy. my yard trees are pretty close and this hammock would be perfect for the yard hang!
