I love the formatting of this video so much. The talking is just slow enough to understand and just fast enough to get used to normal speaking speed. Also having the key terminology pop up is SO helpful. I feel like hearing someone tell a conversational story really helps with training those active listening skills. Thank you for the video! ❤

It was difficult, but I understood most of the story, I think. It happened in India, Jac was maid and money is still missing. Thank you for the story, it was so interesting to listen❤
1. India 2. Jac was your friend’s maid 3. No you never found the money

I like how you think about this situation. Too many times I have lost things and thought badly of others only to discover the truth later. Usually always my fault or something happened. I'm also the person who finds money on the street all the time, notes money. Many people drop notes without even noticing. If I see it I tell them but often I just find money and nobody around. In China I noticed that people are a bit careless with things as it is very safe so when Chinese travel I am amazed that they don't have more things stolen as its too easy for thieves to take stuff from you guys. South America is not the country for you guys for example. Too naive because cameras EVERYWHERE in China. I like your honesty to try and make this situation right with the universe by sharing this story. We can all relate as we have been in similar situations. We live and grow and try to set the karma right. That is a beautiful part of the world I really really want to go to that Sikkim and Nagaland area and nearby. I live next door in Myanmar. The level of this story is good too that I don't have to struggle to much to understand it all. I like that you are doing more stories like what Eilein does in Mandarin Corner. For learners at my level we learn by watching TV etc with subtitles. Thats how I learnt Spanish in Chile and Russian in Georgia

Story happened in India And Jac was the helper There money still not found until today... Really enjoy your stories. Reminds me of the first time you went traveling in Thailand
Phew... I have to say the speed really got me. Even on 0.75x the speed and with the Simplified subtitles it felt like it was a bit too fast. I got the gist of it, but not the finer details. Also, I was exhausted after just those few minutes because of the intense concentration. Thank you VERY much! I'll try this story again tomorrow to see whether I get better at it because I now heard it already.

So helpful. Thank you! I really appreciated the pop-up translations for the more difficult words. And having the Chinese subtitles was helpful too.

Thanks. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I understood. I was last in India many years ago but it looks just as poor, polluted and messy as always. In that time China has gone from being like that to the clean, modern and relatively safe country I enjoy. I was surprised at you leaving that money unattended there. I always kept money and passport in a money belt with me at all times. It’s a necessary precaution in many countries. I suspect Jac was the “fall guy” as we say but we’ll never know.

他在印度住了很多年了 = "He has lived in India for many years" I think that 住 is an interesting verb. For most verbs, the 在-expression precedes the verb. For example : 我在印度工作 = "I work in India" But for 住, the 在-expression usually follows. For example : 我住在印度 = "I live in India" However, if a time-duration (such as 很多年) is mentioned, then the 在-expression precedes the verb 住 and we get : 他在印度住了很多年了 = "He has lived in India for many years" Now, wasn't that interesting ? 🙂
I want to hear this kind of story like a podcast . I could understand everything though some words are new to me , but i come to know the meaning through other sentences. 老师xiexie . Though i could understand when i am speaking with natives these words didn't come to me at that time 😂 why is that

一万多卢比 = "more than 10,000 rupees" When 多 is used to mean "more than", it usually follows two characters. I think that is because it's usually used with numbers such as : 三十多 ("more than 30"), 二十多 ("more than 20"), etc. Now let's look at : 有十多个房间 = "It has more than 10 rooms" Here, 多 is used after the single character 十. I think that is because, unlike 三十 and 二十, 一十 is not used. It's just 十. Now, wasn't that interesting ? 🙂
