By MT hopping over the strip of dry ground before the glider, you can reach the end of the glider pad and, with the correct trick timing, get what’s called a “fast glider” You maintain the combined momentum of the waterfall and the MT through the trick until your glider comes out, gaining a huge speed boost over drifting or tricking off the pad normally. This works because the glider is facing downward as opposed to the usual upward ramp you see on many tracks utilizing motion glider.

Tanooki Mario is actually harder to drive. While the handling stat is the same according to the game and the MK8DX builder, there’s the slightest difference that makes plenty of turns more difficult to hit, and the nisc and glider aren’t as feasible. Also he’s taller and takes more space on the screen which can mess with your brain more than Yoshi.
