Kadala curry
Ingredients
1. Bengalgram - 2 cups
2. Carrot chopped - 1 cup
3. Big onion chopped - 2 nos (2 cup)
4. Potato chopped - 1 cup
5. Turmeric powder - ½ tsp
6. Green chilli - 4 to 5
7. Ginger - 1” piece
8. Garlic chopped (opt) - 2 cloves
9. Salt - to taste
10. Curry masala powder - 1 ½ to 2 tbsp
11. Grated coconut - 1 cup
Seasoning
12. Oil - 2 tbsp
13. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
14. Red chilli - 2 to 3
15. Curry leaves - plenty
Preparation
1. Soak the Bengal gram overnight & pressure cook, up to 5 whistles.
2. Grind the coconut with curry masala powder & one tbsp of cooked Bengal gram, set aside.
3. Saute items 6 & 7 after seasoning with the ingredients, followed by items 2, 3 & 4 & turmeric powder & a little more salt.
4. Pressure cook the seasoned items with the boiled Bengal gram upto 1 whistle, open & add the masala.
5. Add water & boil well. Remove & serve after 30 minutes adding plenty of curry leaves squeezed.
