Honestly, the whole Maddie and Sia situation feels like a case of grooming. Not necessarily in a sexual sense, but Sia has seemingly manipulated Maddie to the point where she relies HEAVILY on Sia and has made them develop a codependent relationship. Sia always HAS to speak for Maddie when Maddie is now a grown girl capable of speaking for herself. I feel that their relationship is now at a point where Maddie feels obligated to stay with Sia and do as Sia pleases because of all Sia has done to help her career get to where it is now. I am disappointed that Melissa just allows all of this to happen. If Maddie were my daughter, I would definitely set BOUNDARIES between my daughter and her employer. @BriarBeeBenson2 жыл бұрын
It definitely started with her mother as well. In her own memoir she even says how Melissa would basically use her as a therapist and tell her about her adult problems, making her feel personally responsible for them. She also parentified Maddie by having her brush Mackenzie’s hair, make her wash Kenzie’s face, make sure she brushed her teeth and put her to bed, make sure she had her things for school. And then also how Maddie would stay up late and tell her mother she’s drunk too much wine and should go to bed while Melissa uses her as a therapist. Then later Melissa keeping her in that horrible enviorment at Abby Lee’s studio because Melissa feels some sort of loyalty towards ALDC because she danced with them when she was young and then tried to live vicariously through her older daughter and shoulder the burden on taking care of her most her little sister’s emotional and often her physical needs. That is SO much to go through when you’re a little girl and then Maddie had the world watching her and this abusive, loud mouthed asshole emotionally manipulating her. She wasn’t able to go to school, was over worked, had no friends or couldn’t make any meaningful connections with the other girls and when she tried to with Kendall they were punished for it by not being allowed to have a duet together for some spiteful, stupid reason before Kendall left the show and both of them were absolutely heartbroken. I was only 2 years older than Maddie as well and I watched all of this unfold and I was horrified for all of them. Their crying and being ‘sensitive’ really opened my eyes to the similar abuse I went through and showed me that I wasn’t ‘too sensitive’ or dramatic or over reacting to adults screaming insults at me and mistreating me. Lmao Jojo radicalised me with “Well if you yell at me I’m gonna cry”. My father (an abusive narcissist) was actually a fan of the show and watched it all of the time and that’s how I was able to watch it and would bark at me like Miller did to the girls, even repeating insults and harsh criticisms verbatim to make me become ‘a perfect daughter’ like Maddie because I had never been ‘good’ at anything. He would do that while I was practicing art. And wouldn’t you know it, my asshole father wanted to be an artist at some point in his younger life 🥲 Just disgusting, all of it. Now there’s Sia taking advantage of that poor girl. Maddie has literally been used by every single adult in her life and has never had a safe adult to confide in and that screws you up SO much as a kid. I hope she gets away from Sia, finds peace and gets a good therapist because holy shit, that girl was robbed of her childhood.

Then you cast and pressures her to be in a movie that she doesn’t feel comfortable doing, that she cried about doing, just because you couldn’t see anyone else in the role. That just doesn’t sit right with me at all. I think this movie was good for ONE THING: it showed how when writing or creating art it’s better to stick to your own experience...”write what you know” as they say. The only person with depth in that movie is Zoo, and the reason is that her experience as a recovering addict is the only one Sia can actually relate to as she’s in recovery herself. It would have been waaaaay cooler to see a musical about Zoo struggling to overcome her addiction through musical numbers. I kinda disagree with "write what you know". In general, it limits a lot of creativity. Instead, creators should be encouraged do their research and consult / collaborate with people who have the right skill set and personal experiences. I know Sia said she researched this movie for years, but idk what she was researching if she didn't know how polarising Autism Speaks was. Whatever research she did, clearly it was incompetent and half-assed. The fact that there was no autistic writers / experts on austin involved was the nail on the coffin. Creators should not be afraid of making art outside their own experiences, but when they do, they need to be aware of their personal limitation and find others who can help fill in the gaps.

@avitheofficial7014 Жыл бұрын
Hi, just trying to educate myself so no negative tone intended!! How would someone calm an autistic child down in an open area like the park that the movie clip was in? Obviously you shouldn't pin them down like Sia demonstrated, you shouldn't pin any kid down to be frank, but if there was no backup plan what would happen?
@miminaomi9844 Жыл бұрын
@@avitheofficial7014 honestly, it depends on how well you know the kid to gauge what they need. Autistic individuals will most likely show signs that they're becoming overstimulated, so avoiding a meltdown is your best option, and this can be done in many different ways. But lets say you've missed the signs: Some people when in the middle of a meltdown want to be hugged, some distracted (if you know the person well you probably know their special interests and could use that), you could use fidget toys, sensory videos, headphones, sunglasses, food or a drink etc. If you're worried about the child's safety (let's say the park is surrounded by a road or something) you could take the child's hand or carry them to a quieter corner/place. From my experience kids (with autism) enjoy being carried, often on your back, to feel a sense of safety, comfort, and distance between themselves and the overstimulating situation. The world is already way more overwhelming when you're a child, so the extra hight helps. Again this all depends on the child, because some don't want to be touched at all. Pinning a child in the midst of a meltdown down is extremely dangerous and traumatising and will harm your relationship with them, but if the child is running toward a busy road, their safety obviously comes first, but avoid placing your weight on a child at all costs and carry them instead. My best advice is to do research and observe a child to be able to catch symptoms of overstimulation early and avoid a meltdown completely.

Sia exploits Maddie to uphold her own privacy. Sia pinpointed Maddie as having the least involved mother and the most fragile psyche. Maddie seems to have had the fear that if she messed up at all, Abby would be awful to her. She likely feels similarly with Sia.

One thing interesting about Maddie and Sia I didn’t think about until I saw a tik tok.. Maddie’s net worth is less than or equal to many of the other dance moms girls (exception of Jojo with the highest net worth of the girls) and you’d think that Maddie having reached Hollywood recognition and respect the earliest, she would have a much larger net worth. And I’m not saying net worth is equal to success BUT... I just think Maddie should have already been on a path to be making so much more money, be in so much more projects than what she has done. So it seems that Sia has also been very controlling over Maddie’s career and probably not letting her do other projects that don’t involve Sia.
@JuliaBoateng3 жыл бұрын
yeah! I remember seeing a video from "As Told by Kenya" a year ago (I think she deleted it now) but it was all about what happened to Maddie Ziegler. Maddie was touted to be the next BIG thing. I remember how big she was getting! and then it fizzled out quite a bit... now knowing that Sia is so involved, i wouldn't be shocked if Sia had a huge part to play in that.
@khiaradavis45763 жыл бұрын
I'm about to quote an article on their relationship and what Sia says really speaks to the level of control she has over Maddie and her career. "The singer has shared that she decided that a good way she can keep the dancer safe is “just keep making projects for her and therefore most of the times we’re working together.” Sia has even admitted that she’s tried to keep Ziegler from doing other projects for various reasons." Maddie has a contract with Sia or at least she had one with her at the time of filming the movie. Add that to the familial pressure since Sia is her godmother and the mental breakdowns she had on set make so much sense. I really feel bad for her.

this honestly reminds me alot of the emotionally abusive relationship I had with my art mentor. she called herself my "second mother", gave me big gifts, called me her best student and taught me a lot of art skills that I use to this day. But she was also extremely moody, often lashed out at me verbally, never apologized but expected me to apologize for the moments I snapped and most of all she held all the good things she did for me over my head whenever she wanted me to do her favours or when I tried to pull away and set boundaries. Lots of guilt tripping, lots of manipulation, setting me against other students, and when I finally decided to break away, the fallout wasn't pretty. All to say: this protective and overly close behaviour of Sia towards Maddie feels very familiar and makes me wonder if bad situations hide behind the curtains just like they did for me. And considering Sia's obsession is much more extreme than that of my mentor, I genuinely fear for Maddie and her mental well-being.

Think Sia is working through the abuse she endured by her father by "adopting" Maddie and molding her in her image as a means of healing her wounds. There is two interviews that show some true colors of her: first where she talks about how she invited Maddie's bf (who live in AU) to live with her, she make some comments on how she look at him in the pool and that she interrupted him an Maddie to start singing and be with them, I think she invited him to live with her is a way to assure that Maddie will visit her. She also mentioned how she adopted some teenagers that have live a difficult life and share there mental health struggles and that she said to them that if they don't do what she's said they can go back to the streets, just awful behavior. Also this obsession that she only wants to work with her and how influential she is on Maddie's career is so strange. Sia is obsessed with her same with Abby. I feel like this is an effect of her mother (Melissa) that treat her daughter as friends instead of mother, which cause them, specifically Maddie to get attach to other women as a way of motherly figure. Creating a weird relationship where the older person get too personal. Notice!! That I never said Melissa is a bad mother.

I agree!! I remember Melissa said on a podcast I believe? she said that Maddie runs the house. its sad.

Don’t be too afraid of saying someone is a bad parent if they... are. Just saying. It’s not like a rule that you can never say that.

It's so eye opening how this relationship is definitely seen as toxic and manipulative, and there is DEFINITELY people who are in this kind of overpowering dynamic in their everyday life
@JuliaBoateng3 жыл бұрын
for sure!! I think if anything we regular people should really learn from these dynamics ans try to spot them in our own lives.. often times when crazy things like this happen it flies way under the radar.

I love the point you make about how if this were a man involved there'd be pitchforks involved. It seems like women get a pass a lot of times. I think it's because in a lot of p*do/grooming cases it's a man involved but that doesn't mean females can't be a perpetrator. An example involves my step-daughter. When she was around 15 years old she was invited to spend the night with a friend of hers (at the time). Her father and I thought nothing of it as we had met the girl and her mother several times and everything seemed fine. So Step-daughter goes over. The friend had gotten some alcohol and hidden it in her room (which kids do at times). Step-daughter and Friend started drinking and after Step-daughter was intoxicated (according to Step-daughter Friend didn't drink as much and didn't appear to be intoxicated much if at all), Friend sexually assaulted her. I was mad but Step-daughter didn't want anything said and no one else seemed worried but, as I pointed out repeatedly, that if this had involved a male friend, everyone (like step-daughter's mom and dad) would have been up in arms, wanting to press charges. But because it involved a female, it wasn't seen as a big of a deal. That's a complete double standard, in my opinion. Maddie's parents didn't seem to find the way Sia was acting to be a huge red flag. I understand Maddie is an adult now but I'm talking about when she was younger. I wonder if Maddie possibly feels indebted to Sia and goes along with whatever Sia wants to do. I truly don't think anything sexual is happening between Sia and Maddie but I think there's definitely some kind of power dynamic at work there. Also did anyone else notice that Sia didn't say anything about correcting people when they assume Sia is Maddie's mother? She just kind of laughed when she mentioned that part. I just get weird "Mommy Dearest" vibes... maybe that's just me tho.

Just want to comment my support of you and your videos! I found your channel a couple of weeks ago concerning the Olsen twins and I've been hooked since. This is a great video as well. Sia and Maddie's mother have basically treated Maddie as if they're coparents handling their kid after a divorce with the amount of time she's allowed to sleep over alone. They are splitting their time with her. And having Maddie as a minor "snuggle" with Sia as if that's cute...yeah, no thanks. Again, loving your videos!

Bed sharing is normal with relatives or best friends your age, but my parents never allow me to share a bed with an adult non-relative even if they’re close to them because they are GROWN.

And now there are emotional, physical, and sexual abuse allegations against Shia Labouef from multiple people. From before and after the making of elastic heart.... it’s scary to know that he was around Maddie😣

As far as Maddies sense of “agency”, considering the way she’s been treated through her entire social development and was still a child at the time she may not be comfortable saying no to much if it’s going to upset an adult/authority she wants to please.
@jwindsor62743 жыл бұрын
I agree with the Harvey plane thing. Sia easily could’ve stopped her and left it at that but the fact that she shared it with the world sounds like she’s looking for attention so she can seem like Maddie’s guardian angel or something

I honestly believe that Sia thinks that she’s experiencing “maternal instincts” however she doesn’t seem to have an ounce of these feelings towards her own children.. What she’s described about meeting Maddie for the first time is basically how you would describe “love at first sight”, instant attraction and/or a strong need to own her, to “make her mine”. She can hide behind the whole “motherly” mask but this is predatory behavior at the very least. She needs to look herself in the mirror and realize that she’s actually dedicated her entire life and career to being as close as possible (physically, emotionally, mentally, financially etc) with someone else’s child. She put a grown man in dirty underwear in a cage together with a child dressed in the absolute bare minimum, nude colored underwear basically. Just because she’s not a man doesn’t mean she can’t be a pdophile. RED FLAGS

Honestly, Elastic heart and its message really got to me. I think Shia and Maddie did a great job showing a father/daughter relationship in all its goods and bads. It's a great song and video. But everyone interprets art differently.
