STORY OF MY LIFE!!!!! I specifically feel for my black women.
@blackcosmos
@blackcosmos 4 ай бұрын
The term: "Check in on your Strong friends" comes to mind. My aunt from Kingston, Jamaica who is giving & FORgiving, loving, tolerant, patient, generous to a FAULT & eveyone not excluding other family members perceives her as Impervious. It breaks my heart because she gives waaay more of herself than she probably should & rarley is it reciprocated. I consistently make it a point of duty to check in on her & to remind her that not only am I ALWAYS here for her, but also remind her of how special & outstanding she is as a human being. U continue embracing your girl. Nuff Love & Respect to u AS!!

I honestly hope you read this Amanda, I just want to Thank you from my spirit to your spirit for the sit down you did with Shannon. I have never felt so seen, heard understood in all my 40 years. But yesterday ! I felt a release, I felt excellent , it was a wave that I knew I needed to not so much wallow in but overtake me. The way you are is exactly the way I am and it was captivating to me almost like you talking about NYC, I found my real sister. A woman who holds accountability and self awareness as a badge of honor that was given upon her from our father. The very things people say they don't like you for have you ever payed attention and seen them acting that exact same manner when there in a "comfortable" group setting? It be so crazy to see them really trying to be you. I hope to meet you soon and I pray Thank you Father in the name of Jesus when we do I'm blessed enough to have a open hearted conversation with you. It's something's down here in Memphis that I could use your openness and help with to get the ball moving and it would be my greatest appreciate if you could direct me in the way to go. Thank you once again Amanda you really help alot of US last night💚💚🙏🏽

Your interview with Shannon brought me here, but your authenticity and stamina to keep your head held high, despite what people attempt to label you as, is inspiring. New subscriber here! P.S. I've enjoyed your commentary and comedy on other platforms in the past, but you went in on that interview.....made me gain a whole new level of respect for you..... you are awesome!

Yyyyyyep. My mom was the oldest and until the day she died she took care of everyone. Her family only called her when they needed something. Even after she passed they looked to me to pick up where she left off. I was a 30yr old single mother. The only child no father no one present. Nobody ever asked me if I was ok. What do you need? How can we help? I was alone and constantly being made to feel bad because I wasn’t sharing in the very little bit of money my mom had left. My family even tried to sue me. This is why I stay a lot to myself. Before My mom passed, she told me dont be afraid to ask for help. One day you will need to. When I got breast cancer, I did reach out for help. I was so sick I could barely work. My family made the comment that I dont need money because Im rich. I said ok. Sooo yeahhhhhhhh I truly understand. My family and my daughters father have it in their minds that I have it all and dont need anything or anyone. I remember my daughters father telling me stop using cancer as an excuse, when I asked him to help me with her. 😏 Life…. Im blessed though 😌

❤YES! After significant changes in my family relationships, I realized for the first time (six months prior to turning 40), that I’d been consoling myself my entire life. It wasn’t always the best job, as I had to learn what I needed having grown up without a mother. -I never really felt “lonely,” but after a bad breakup and work stress found myself needed someone from my family to be nurturing. Never received that from my father. great provider, but did not even attempt to fill the void of my estranged mother by becoming more nurturing & soft with me. My one person (GMA) was even now more emotionally distant. So I went inward as I do. This time crying more, journaling more, consoling more, until I felt as a heavy load was lifted! I wouldn’t want that for anyone, but I my mind and heart was so unburdened & clear afterwards.

Sounds like me but I also have to do my part and ask for help when I need it. I sometimes feel like it’s not safe for me to be vulnerable which causes people to think I’m stronger than I really am. They cannot read my mind so I can’t blame them. The issue though, for me at least, is asking for help and then being turned down because they think I’m just overreacting, even though I genuinely need their help. Being pregnant for the first time is showing me how vulnerable I really am, since this is the most dependent I’ve ever been. Shoot I can’t even put my own shoes on without asking someone for help…so it’s really hard but a reality that I had to face.

Yes. I have friends who are this way. I am always a listening ear and I am there to offer advice if they ask for it or talk them off the proverbial ledge. But they will still say nobody’s “there for them. And the world expects them to be strong”. We are all black women, but the difference is I’ve put in the work and check in with myself to check myself. The others didn’t. We don’t believe you have it together, but when we walk around like a ticking grenade others are trying not to loosen the pin. 🤷🏽‍♀️

When you showed your vulnerability then Shannon was negatively going against you although trying to act like he cared and I was like that is why she don’t mess with you people. Amanda you are on a different dimension and only a few get and appreciate it. Stay true to you.

I relate this to when people brag or compliment how strong a woman is when they are going through a difficult period of life. It’s a way to acknowledge what they are going through and pretend to support them. When in reality they are saying “You’re going through a lot and you definitely need support but you won’t be getting any support from me.”

I honestly wish to understand. Why put so much attacking energy out in the world. What’s wrong with grace? If you worked with others to change policy or spent more time listening (really taking in different perspectives without judgment), talking up others or helping those less fortunate - that would seem more authentic and “emotionally intelligent” to me. You’re obviously! really sensitve (I can relate) and extremely! intelligent and talented. But something seems off? Also, people not being into you does not mean they’re anti-black, anti-black women, anti-opinionated women, anti-light skinned women, etc. You don’t HAVE to change your energy just like you don’t HAVE to do anything. But I learned (eventually) that when I focus on myself and figure out what I could have done better in a situation the dynamic suddenly shifts and so many resolutions appear almost like magic. I just hope you’re happy and well and start putting out more solution-oriented vibes because the world doesn’t need more aggression and attacking. We need more collaboration, grace, productivity, innovation - and harshness just doesn’t help. And I feel like so many people want to support and protect you but from the interviews I’ve seen you push them away the second they say something you don’t like. People want to love you so hopefully you’ll let them and overlook some of their flaws/faults as I’m sure you would want people to do for you as well.
