3 years ago, two friends and I took a job share with a commercial insurance company and we each work 1 or 2 days a week as the receptionist alternating the 2 day week. At first I thought I would do it for a few months but found it rewarding. The company, office and everyone are so nice and easy to work with and the extra income is quite nice! I just turned 84 so it’s never too late🥰

I really miss working as a paralegal for oil and gas attorneys, especially because of the bonds made with my bosses and co-workers. Hi from Annie it is great to see Moosie doing so well just in time for the holiday and you look gorgeous with that shorter hair you had it rolled up but should really get a shorter hair cut maybe a short pixie with some layers etc will make you look younger still more than you already do. That new camera sounds fun. When I had my daughter back in 1977 it was a last minute C Section and they really messed things up the uterus was prolapsed afterwards and belly fat just hanged where the cut was still does. It cause incontinence a few years later and it is not pleasant sometimes put panty liner on when go out. You have to re think what you are wearing for outings too like looser clothing etc. Your garden looks great and the cats are so cute. I really like your clothes today so bright and cheerful. Before I retired my work load had slowed down and I would sit at work thinking about all the things I had to do at home (I have an acre of land). I went on a week's vacation and during that week got my appt with SSecurity and got my insurance set up. The day I got back to work I put out an email giving my 2 week notice. Everyone said "that must have been a good vacation!" I have never regretted it - I keep busy and didn't realize how much wasn't getting done on weekends. Retirement is the best! Tried going back part time - I quit after a few weeks.

I am 69 and a bookkeeper in an Elementary school. All my friends keep telling me how wonderful retirement is. They say they don't get up until they want. Get dressed only if they feel like it. That sounds horrible to me. My husband of 45 years passed away a year ago. I've my job and feel that it gives me structure. I am sure at some point I will want to retire. I am a 12 month employee so it is all year. We do work 10 hour days in the summer so I have every Friday off for 2 months. Nanny, you have such a wonderful ouook. You are a joy to watch.❤❤

As a young person, I once was invited along with a friend for tea with her Grandmother. The grandmother was a , very stately, and very stern lady. I was probably told beforehand to mind my manners, and not have giggly laughing fits every 5 minutes. Unfortunately she had a tummy problem that day, resulting in quite a bit of noise every ten minutes, as we politely drank our tea, prettending nothing was happening. If the grandmother was aware of it, you would never have known it. -Not a flinch or a bat with an eyelid. I'm sure, though I fought for it, that I was'nt so lucky!!

I was raised to not pass gas and if someone did to ignore it. My daughter teaches her to sons to laugh at it. I have accepted her attitude about it. Now I have less stomach pain. Thank goodness attitudes are changing.

I think it is important to discuss all this so-called taboo subjects. So many people are impacted by many health conditions and it helps to share, especially maybe great products, new surgeries or even implants that may help. If we talk about it, it stops being one of those subjects everyone is afraid to talk about even with the doctor. I got over all of that stuff no matter what long ago. I had cervical cancer at age 40 and learned quickly to advoicate for myself, get to know my body, and insist to doctors what I needed and what I did not need. My ongologist taught me that. He saved my life and I thank him every day for what he did for me but also for what he taught me in dealing with doctors. You DO NOT have to do what they say. LOL

I like your garden embroidered jeans Nanny! They are reminiscent of the 60's era. You look like a flower child out there in your garden in California. You should make flower crowns for you and Moose. I'm not sure if he would wear or not. Anyway, on the topic of flatulence (we used to call farting), my advice is to blame the dog when this happens. Another good reason to have a dog. Or you can light a match or a candle. Do you remember the whoopi cushion? A fun item for family get-togethers and parties. Especially lately, as we could all use a good laugh. Your blue and white spring mantel looks lovely! Also love your beautiful botanical kimono on you while posing in front of. Perfect! It's a beautiful spring day here, but quite windy. I’m a reseller. There is a lil shop by my home where I can walk to. I have a shelf there and sell things that I declutter from my home or things I pick up from my friends or even from yard sales. I just tag my items and make a nice display at the shop. It gives me just a lil income to suppliment my retirement. :)

Good morning Nanny. I wish that I was more mobile and still drove a car. I would love to teach my needlework/sewing classes again. Yesterday the surgeon general was talking about loneliness. He said that it is as bad for our health as smoking. This is a perfect reason to have a side hustle. I am constantly amazed by technology. Your new toy is an example of how far things have come. The downside of technology is AI. I am hearing that it is taking jobs away from people. That is a whole story on its own. Your garden is flourishing. I am heartbroken about mine. All of my new plants have been completely eaten by rats! Nothing is left. I googled the problem and it said to put out Irish Spring soap. I did. They kept eating. Then I ordered packets to repel rats. Nothing. Next I ordered peppermint oil spray which was supposed to keep them away. Nothing works! Is Shamu a good ratter? Perhaps I could borrow him…lol. I loved going out to the patio and seeing the birds and flowers. I am at a loss as to what to do. I love your kimono. I would like to find some that are knee length. Thank you Nanny for your kind words. In the midst of all of my health issues your words meant so very much to me. You must be getting very excited for your trip. Where do you live that you have such a problem with rats? Maybe you could teach needlepoint online? Or a small group of young people could come to your home? My church womens group have an evening every so often where anyone can come and do any kind of craft, some paint, others knit or needlepoint, crochet. It’s very nice!

Hi Sharon…we have little black boxes around the grounds here on the hillside…very dense greenery, all over,etc …and have one in the garden…you fill them regularly with little green square pellets (boxes are safe for pets) ..the only thing that keeps the rat population down…they are available at Lowe’s and Home Depot…maybe your son can pick you up a few…have a good day, Sharon..❤️

Nannie, I was a stay at home mom until after my two kids were in high school and that was substitute teaching. I did that for a couple of years and then went to work at the school in the front office. Later that changed to the attendance secretary. I retired after 30 years in the same school. I did miss my colleagues but have really enjoyed my retirement. I still sew and work in our yard. I think we have a lot in common.😊

Nanny, so happy to know you. You have improved my life immensely! You are beautiful inside and out. I’ve learned so much from you. How to appreciate life, wear makeup again, wear jewelry, buy beautiful clothes and accessories at thrift stores, and just get back to living. Oh, and I now have a little garden on two decks (to keep it safe from the deer). I have eight tomato plants, every herb I can find, and some pepper plants. I’m going to add eggplant, chives and another tomato. I couldn’t find a tiny cherry tomato last time I was out shopping. My daughter asked me to plant a couple of tomato plants. I may have over planted on the tomatoes. My sister says that we are going to do some canning. Now that will be fun. I have been thinking of working or volunteering at the local Head-start. I have had alot of side hustles when working regular jobs and after retiring. Pet sitting, turtle sitting, baby sitting, cleaning houses. As I have gotten older, not so much now. If anything it would be pet sitting which I do once in awhile. I love that camera that follows you. How fun!!! You are so smart Nanny with all the new things you learn. I too Google everything. Just remembered i also went to a local school and heard children read and a local old people’s home and did a knitting group and took magazines I had collected .and helped at the local brownie group doing craft.all these were only an hour or so each .😊

Hi Nanny.... Have you tried eyeglass hinge tightening rubber bands? I googled them on the internet and they sell them there. They can tighten up the tension of your eyeglasses arms so your glasses will not slip off your nose so easily. Good morning Nanny. You looked beautiful in this video. The hair was fantastic seemed cut and the kimono wow! Lovely colours. I loved it. The garden and the view are enchanting. I can imagine the pure air filled with different fragrances emanating from the different flowers and herbs… a paradise on earth. Another subject that Moose suggested: flatulence 😊! Yes no one speaks about but with age this happens more frequently too! I speak from myself. It’s annoying and very inconveniente, there is many things that I can’t eat now, milk that I love, some vegetables, green peas with poached eggs yam, chocolate. Little by little I have been making a selection of what causes me flatulence that it is so uncomfortable and inconvenient despite the pills for this problem. Finally to find a work here after 75 it’s very difficult even for free. The society here is very closed and distrustful I think because in part our country is going through difficult times both politically and economically especially due the pandemic time and now the war in Ukraine. Learning painting or pottery it’s very expensive… so let’s continue taking care of the house and walking with my best friend Teddy Bear the dog. The last but not the least I was very glad seeing Moose walking so well. Love you both and God Bless we all.

My next surgery ( which I just had Pelvic Prolapse 2 slings /lift/ repair) is LEFT TOTAL REVERSE SHOULDER - already had replacement on right shoulder REPLACEMENT . MARCH 18, 2024. I highly recommend no need to live out life in pain !!! My rt shoulder replacement has been great pain free in it now

Well isn't that face tracker the coolest thing?! Is it an app you download or something tangible you fasten to your camera? Yes flatulence is a common problem...as is constipation...as are muscle cramps (at the most unusual times!)...or the use of aids like canes - so many people I know need to use a cane but just refuse - then they fall. Enjoyable video again, you just keep turning them out Nanny! Moose you are doing so awesome! And look at your sub numbers, up to 30.9k ❤ blessings to you both from West Texas!

I just went back to your beautiful video of staying married 60 years and all the wonderful photos of your beautiful family and life adventures together....It was so inspiring and beautiful....Thank you! My husband and I are retired and enjoying daily life. Yes, I agree, the feeling of being needed and having a purpose and after retiring at several of my former careers....mostly office or banking.... I got a degree in floral design and I went to work part time as a floral designer and just loved it. Being creative and making people happy with beautiful flowers was such a joy.....my 'side hustle'...:) I find joy in weekly ladies' Bible study which is so enriching and am involved in our local Garden Club as chaplain. I have kept up with friends and enjoy our lunches out at local restaurants. Gardening is my passion as well as enjoying our little home in which I have painted every room and designed a little cozy den with a fireplace. We have two cats who keep us amused....I visit a lifetime friend bi-weekly at a nursing home and take her lunch and decorate her room for the changing seasons. I am an unpublished author and have written several books...fairy tales, short stories, inspiration, our ten years renting an old farm house and a memoir of my growing up in a small down. I am an avid letter writer and have friends with whom I correspond ....now mostly via e-mail. Two of my long time pen pals I have written to for 65 years. I love your beautiful gardens! So lush and colorful! Your new camera tracker is great! Moosie, is hilarious! ...a real 'gaser' LOL Love your lovely outfit...so colorful and perky! Way to Go Moosie! Your walking is so impressive! It just goes to show that you can't keep a good man down for long BECAUSE behind him is always a wonderful woman! Thanks for all your lovely videos. I'm so glad you gave a shout out to Margaret!!!! I've been watching her just about since she started her channel and just LOVE her!!! She has a no nonsense personality, she tells it as it is! She works really hard, has a successful business and tells very honest story times!! I'm in my 50's and find a lot of inspiration watching women such as yourself Nanny and Margaret for example. I’m 67 and a master gardener, but alone in an apartment so I garden vicariously thru KZbinrs like GardenAnswer. I’m sure there may be some older folks with homes who just need a little help with planting or cleanup or such, just light garden tasks.
