They are such a good exercise. Try against a wall or bench so the load on the shoulders is less… but sounds like you need to work in shoulder stability? Have a look at the programs at physiorehab.com

I tend to get bursitis in my shoulder joint. Is thete any other exercise I can do to exercise the same muscles?

You could try suit case deadlifts which also work the QL and Obliques - have a look in our exercise library at physiorehab.com
