I watch every video but have learned the most about canbuss communication issues. Watching your videos is like watching your thought process spoken out loud. you're extremely intuitive, and you can see the wheels turning at each step of your process and why you've chosen the particular diagnosis path. your laid-back southern demeanor, and your straightforward integrity is very refreshing. but I've got to admit I'm from the west cost so I adjust the KZbin playback speed much faster so you sound like someone familiar from around here. lol: no disrespect intended.

No question about it - your coaching cues (descriptors & emphasis & slogans ) and your leadership (relating the presentation back to us your followers) and the way you inspire us students is world class . Things such as the videography and the consistency of walking us through your tools, stating the official names of things, how to do hook ups, explaining how to make sense of wiring diagrams, what the random strange noise was under the vehicle, why that noise might have stopped, historical known problems with certain vehicles etc … are the distinguishing factors turning ANY lesson you might provide into a grand slam home run !

Great diagnostic, Jake! Diagnosing network faults is always very interesting, more so when it's a challenging case. It would be very hard to have an interactive video with viewers - a live would allow it, but the thing would take hours of your time, and the benefits would be unpredictable. In this particular fault, I can't imagine why someone would go through the trouble of twist splicing all wires (replacing the connector, perhaps), use heatshrink and not solder or crimp each individual wire! It would only take a few more minutes to do a proper job.
@autodiagytАй бұрын
Again. They was close to a successful repair lol. A little solder and adhesive lined heat shrink would have saved this customer a tow bill and my repair fee.

That wiring repair from the previous "tech" reminds me of a young guy who worked in our shop. GM had a recall on the 08-13 r/v body suv to cut out the airbag connectors under the front seats and hard wire the circuits. This guy was doing them in half the time anyone else was. Eventually the first one came back and was assigned to me. Circuits were twisted together and shrink wrapped. After the 10th one came back he no longer had a job. It was so bad across all dealerships they had to issue a special policy extended warranty on this issue. Id love to see a video on an intermittent communication issue thats very hard to duplicate.

I like the channel content. I am always learning ideas about my diagnostic plans. I have been working for some dealerships that bought flood vehicles. I am in a world of CAN bus, Power, Ground, and dead modules. Not to mention they like to fire the parts cannon(they are just shooting their shot from the junkyard parts), which leads to immobilizer issues.
@stevepark5504Ай бұрын
I use bare crimp sleeves for wiring repairs, then solder the sleeve to the wire. The sleeve gives a mechanical connection that will hold the wires in place and eliminates the sharp wire strand ends that try to poke through the heat shrink. It’s faster and less frustrating in cramped places and allows all wires to be spliced then soldered in a batch operation.
