The new Sig MPK-k 9mm pistol looked to be very promising. Jason decided to get one from a local dealer and trade me for my older gen 1 MPX since he knew I would want a shorter barrel and he wanted the longer barrel and access to the inexpensive gen 1 magazines. We ran into a problem.

The same exact literal thing happened to my Sig MPX-K that was manufactured 9 May 2019. I had shoulder adapter and In Lead We Trust trilug adapter and it throws rounds everywhere with and without Ti-Rant on. What are options, to spend a bunch of money and get an 8 inch barrel from either ILWT or SIG actual and take a chance on it not working.

You're not the only one. My friend sent me a text message after I released this video telling me he bought a MPX-k too and like me, his shot all over the place with his SilencerCo tri-lug and silencer. live.staticflickr.com/65535/48180251001_4e198726c3_b.jpg It may be more widespread than I thought.

I get on the phone with SIG and they say to send rifle and if it passes their spec I will have to pay, but he can’t describe to me their standards or what is in spec. BLUF, if I can’t take a sub gun and hit an obscured target behind something I don’t want to hit, it is a paper weight right. On top of it is 1700 dollar gun that should be working. Thanks for posting this video because I have been looking on internet for the last 3 weeks trying to find somebody with this same exact issue.

@@JB-mv1fn ...and that's why I don't deal with Sig's customer support. I bought one of their early 1911's and it went full-auto on me in an indoor range (the store I bought it at). I called Sig while at the store and they told me it was likely the ammo and the gun wasn't broken in yet. LOL. I let the guys behind the counter hear the conversation. Needless to say they took the 1911 back and I picked something else up.

The problem is actually the Griffin 3 lug adapter. I went through a similar trial and error process couple years ago with my gen2 and three new adapters. Griffin's MPX metric adapter indexes on the muzzle, which is correct for metric threading. But when torqued down too much, the muzzle crown/adapter interface inside is warping, instead of being an absolute solid stop. The issue is either 1) the steel material Griffin used is too soft compared to the barrel, or 2) the manufacturing of the adapter is not up to official 13.5x1LH specs (interface circumference area too thin). Shine a flashlight inside a used adapter and you'll see the interface edges deformed/ragged. The Sig barrels are actually fine and the threading is true. If you direct thread a silencer using a normal quality metric piston, you will find that it easily shoots same-hole accuracy. The tapered barrel is unfortunately an inconvenience as it limits other options that could utilize a squared shoulder. I would not trust a trivial slip-on doughnut adapter since we can't confirm if the outside taper was designed concentric with the bore. Even if it was, there's still tolerance-stacking risk in play with slip-ons. I just gave up on the 3-lug system altogether (sloppy standards anyway) and stuck with trusty ole direct thread on the MPX.
@austingreen3888
@austingreen3888 3 жыл бұрын
The Griffin adapter preceded the taper muzzle system. It works on other 13.5x1LH guns. We have some customers that had good results with the Sig barrels, others that didn't. It's hard to know what isn't working when the Sig product isn't consistently interacting with the parts. My guess would be the device sometimes bottoms on the taper, and the MI taper shoulder ring isn't square. We make one of those rings too. Ours has 100% of the datums cut on the main spindle. So they are square to about .0003" which is as accurate as can happen in modern manufacturing. It's not ideal to have to retrofit a shoulder. The Sig tapered shoulder isn't good for that reason.

@Thystaff Thywill UNFORTUNATELY It used to be true. While in Production Colt Pythons were worth the extra bucks. Same for the S&W 27s and 29s. The Pre model 64 Winchesters were certainly worth the money. Genx, Millennials et al always buy the next best thing. They stand in line for the latest made in China iPhone. But planned obsolescence was something Detroit was into in the 60's and 70's
@stever8776
@stever8776 5 жыл бұрын
@Thystaff Thywill So Sigs poor quality is because of tariffs? Sig started making some of its guns in the USA because of Germany's export restrictions. Germany restricted the types and where the firearms could be exported. US manufacturing gave them a loophole. FN has no problem with quality control in their US facilities. Beretta had to produce M9s in the USA to get the Army contracts and had no problems other than the original design of the slides. They have no problems with quality control. As to tariffs, When the the Constitution was written there were very few sources of revenue i.e. taxes. Tariffs were one of the few sources of taxes. Tariffs were also designed to protect and encourage local production. Excise taxes were another source. Remember the Whiskey Rebellion. I think you are confusing the taxes on the exports of Southern Cotton with Tariffs. The South was angered US was using their major source of income to fund the Federal Government. But WTF?

I have seen people mention "well why did it work on the 1st Gen and not the 2nd Gen" well maybe just maybe, because IT'S SECOND GEN AND SOMETHING CHANGED! Assumption is the mother of all fu*k ups, never assume you know what some manufacturers are going to do because YOU think it's right, they are in the business to make money, not cater to CZ fan boi's or the like. I don't own one of these but a friend of mine asked me to test his because I'm a little more experienced with guns and I've had more training on marksmanship. He thought it was just him so he asked me to go shoot with him. And I ran into the same thing and even got another friend who is an marksmanship instructor in the army and he had the same problem when he and I took it out. So you're not alone.

Being a former soldier, M-9 era, I am concerned for our next Gen of soldiers and defective firearms. I don’t think I will even try to purchase a P365 now. Not anymore. Same with Bushmaster. Now I would rather have a Windham. Had a silly story with Para Ordnance. Bought a Tac 4. Was pumped. 4 1/4 barrel, 14 round cap. White box Winchester, lit strikes on 25 out of 50 rounds. Pulled out my Springfield Armory 1911 A1. Fired them all. Tried another box of the same ammo with the Tac 4. Same thing. Called Para. Was told " You need to break it in. "

Taper mounts are a good idea when done right. Just as with squared shoulders, if done wrong it creates problems. For example, I built a rifle for a customer last year that mounted a Faxon barrel. It shot MOA with a muzzle brake in place, but the bullets would not even strike cardboard when a suppressor was attached. No amount of tweaking or machining would fix it. In the end I sent it back to Faxon for examination. They determined the muzzle threads and shoulder had been cut slightly off center and could not be made concentric. Their replacement barrel worked great. Sometimes you get a lemon. In the case of Sig it's a question of whether they are producing the odd lemon or making lemonade.

I'm using a gen 1 Griffin Revolution 9 with the Rugged 3 lug mount. Suppressor fits half way under the hand guard and looks like an MP5-SD. In lead we trust also sells a 3 lug linear comp which extends the barrel past the hand guard for unsuppressed use (like the shot timer during competitions).
