I bought a P226 through a Government program back in 1988 for $500. When I worked for a D.O.E. Contractor the P226 was our issued pistol . I carried a P220 as a duty gun in 1992

Seems like a great option for someone who wants the WG 1980's vibe and doesn't want to wear out a classic. You cannot make me choose between the 92 and 226. 😁Liked, subscribed.

Excellent review. Another significant change from the original is the "short" extractor versus the internal extractor of the original. The "short" extractor was requested by the U.S. Seals. That's why the MK-25 model is the only one in the current 226 lineup using the 'short" extractor versus the current 'long extractor". P226 with the "short"extractor are by far more reliable. I own over 40 P226 and the only ones that have failures to extract are the ones with the "long extractor". Can't wait to receive my P226 40th that I recently ordered.

I have a 1996 German made P226. Great Pistol, I will never, ever give it up. I am a 1911 guy, but the Sig is my go to war gun.

Good video, I have a P220 Legion 10mm SAO, a P229 40 s&w da/sa, LE turn-in, reconditioned by Sig, love them both. I also have a Sig P938 Legion and a P365XL, last but definitely not least, a 92x RDO compact and a CX4 Storm PCC. The P938 actually has me thinking about getting A Springfield EMP 3" or 4". The 92x was my first all metal hammer fired pistol, I was amazed at how much better it shot (for me) than my first pistol (P320xf) so I sold that Sig. I'm carrying the Beretta currently but that could change because the P229 is still in the "breakin" period. I can tell you the Beretta will NEVER get sold.

10:15 which was never really fixed. They just added a second ledge for the sear to grab but that's a bandaid and not a fix. MIM parts are that gun's fundamental flaw and nobody should trust any of them.

Revolvers aside (that's an entirely different conversation), if the 1911 didn't exist my go-to handguns are S&W 2nd and 3rd generation autos in .45ACP, 10mm and 9mm (in order of preference), custom Novak and Cylinder and Slide Browning Hi-Power 9mms, Sig P220 and 226 and then lastly the Berreta 92 family. Note, there are no polymer, striker fired pistols on my list!

The 226 although pricey is the best hand gun for me. It racks easy, love the decocker over safety. After the first round it’s in single action and the light trigger pull and slide length allows for easy follow up shots, but you’re right I’d have hard time making it my edc just because of the size. However if it was good enough for the seals well….

Sig P226 40th Anniversary Edition - the 80's are still cool Haha. I never left the '80s. Still stuck there. The P226 is SIG's classic benchmark pistol. It was the pistol everybody wanted but couldn't afford in the '80s. Its still priced high and why it lost in the M9 military pistol trials even though beating all the competition.

Too bad SIG couldn't keep up the quality of the 226. Now they have their SIG 320 issues and multiple carbines that they dumped onto the civilian market only to discontinue a year later. They should have designed a striker fired handgun from the 226 or 229 rather than their 250 model that flopped on the US market.

Had a 1990 “preowned” refurbished 226 that I traded in for a new Beretta M9 (it’s trial competitor). It was a great gun. Only complaint was it was too top bulky and high barrel axis which is what prompted moving over to the open top Beretta which is also easier to conceal and have never really looked back.
@defconcreative
@defconcreative 2 ай бұрын
high bore axis on a 9mm really doesn't matter.

@@defconcreative as far as function and reliability, no. But I was referring to balance and bulk. It’s a personal preference, of course. Like I said the 226 is a great gun but the Beretta feels better to me and more like a natural pointer and more concealable. It’s easy to see why both made it to the top neck and neck as 9mm service pistols.

Pick up a W German one when you can. The weight between the two are very noticeable. Comparable to a lite weight commander weight to a full size steel. Also check out an old school P228 aka M11. They were carried by US AirForce OSI agents abroad.

I had the 226 back in the eighties at the same time I had a 92f and the sig was a much better gun in my opinion. However it doesn't have the lethal weapon/die hard/replacement killers etc... appeal which is probably why the military did what they did. I had a p 225 which kinda sucked ( I bought it because I couldn't find a 226 at the time) also I had an early p220 called the browning bda it was cool except it had the heel mag release , odd euro device. My old sigs were pretty cool they just didn't have much personality. I guess that's why I always preferred the 1911. Go figure. Great video. Happy holidays
