The blowback is to help with target sight reacquisition training and is not useless but very helpful with as realistic training as possible down to the details.

The slide movement does serve a purpose. It give both a visual and tactile representation on how the real firearm looks and feels. We use this M17 pellet gun for practice when we are not able to get to the range. Perfect practice make practice perfect. You need lots of trigger time to stay proficient. This is a very perishable skill. Ricky from IBM, Ret (law enforcement trained)

Just discover your channel. The reason for the blow back slide is to simulate the center fire version of the M17. This air gun was developed for training purposes to simulate all the actions as closely as possible of the center fire M17. Talk to Sig and they will let you know why this was part of the design criteria. This is not a an air gun for competition or hunting. It an air gun for training and plinking. The design criteria was as a training analog for the center fire M17. Ricky from IBM,

I just watched the video as I'm interested in this gun. He's not saying that blowback is useless altogether. He's saying it's usless because on most guns, after the gun has been fired once and blowback occurs, the next shot will be single action trigger pull. in this gun, the blowback does not make the next shot single action. it's always double action. While not entirely useless for training, it's useless that it doesn't make the next shot single action. which kind of makes me not want this gun now.

blowback function - so I think the confusion might be that this replicas for a striker fire pistol...not a DA/SA platform. I expect the 226 blowback to activate the SA trigger, but I own an M17 9mm and I expect same trigger pull first and every time...

What about the fact that you can field strip the pistol? You didn't mention or go over that.
@RWMAirgunsmithing3 жыл бұрын
This model field strips easily (ive done it countless of times) but because of the magazine/valve the slide comes off to the back and up. Like most airguns, you only need to do this to clean it and unjam.. or to lubricate it lightly very seldomly. (ive also done it recently many times to zero in my sig air reflex sight) edit : also like any airgun or real gun... DONT pull the trigger if you are not aiming at the target you want to hit (which applies during field strips by default)

@brorjordas19795 жыл бұрын
For me this is probably the best Sig Sauer ASP pistol right outta the box. Owned one for 9 months now and I still have not fixed any valves and whatever. Not a fan of the Tan .. but, meh, whatever.. My M17 shot quite accurately where aimed (from 6 meters), no pellet jamming issues and I have had no leaks (yet). I personally like the DAO trigger - which my P320, P226 and the X-Five ASPs do not have. The stiffer trigger hides well it's belt rotating operation, and I kinda like that. The trigger is not insanely hard as the trigger on the Umarex Glock 17 dual-ammo airpistol, which is just effin horrible. The slide of course have no real function when shooting - but kinda is necessary for the field strip. Could of course switch the slide spring to a bit harder one for less easy slide operation and more gas flow towards the pellet instead.. I have tried out H&N alloy pellets with this also. They were just inaccurate. Did not notice a decent difference when shooting alloy pellets. Shot fasterharder - maybe. But since not noticeably faster by the shooter, but rather on target as bad groups - I just quit testing alloy pellets. I personally use RWS Club pellets with this M17 and other replicas with plastic pellet-bore magazines because of the amazing fit. Tested also Crosman Match pellets. Small and accurate groups. Very nice! But the Crosman Match pellets sat a bit too tight (imo) in the belt - so I quit using them not to wear the belt bores down as fast over time........ - I like shooting this gun. But you can never be sure of when it gets those awful leaks. With good luck, a new magazine is the easiest way to go. The build of it has just too many possible places for a leak to occur. But, these Sig ASPs are more for airgun enthusiasts that like to fix and improve their guns. For people that just wanna shoot year after year...I'd rprobably ecommend some other co2 repllca pistol.

@@RWMAirgunsmithing Sig pellets? Nah. I've seen the price of those around here - and I ain't shooting target but out to 20-21ft (6m) with my blowback replicas anyhow. Is slide recoil or "blowback" functional in reducing trigger pull poundage on a real striker fired handgun? I've personally never felt that the subsequent trigger pulls on a striker fired pistol are reduced poundage from the first trigger pull, so wouldn't the blowback be functional in representing the realism of firing a sig p320?

You compared the reduction in trigger pull weight on a hammer fired 226 and a striker fired 320. The trigger feel including pull weight or "effort" goes from long, heavy double action to shorter light single action with the hammer fired gun. On a real centerfire P320 the slide only moves about an inch to reset the striker/trigger. A full slide stroke is required to cock a hammer fired gun such as P226. I enjoyed your review but some newbies expectations on the trigger may be negatively influenced by this comparison. Thanks for the review .

I recently got this sig Sauer M17 about a week ago. I totally agree on your 3/5 score for this airgun. This looks great, feels good in the hand, it has a standard accessory rail, and the innovative CO2 loading are all great! But everything else is really disappointing on this, at this price point. Low FPS, low number of shots per CO2 cartridge, useless and non-locking slide, kinda heavy and notchy double-action only trigger, non-adjustable sights, mine shoots low (6" low at 30 feet). I wouldn't not recommend this. I'll probably leave it on display, instead of shooting it. There are other airguns much more fun to shoot with. I wish Sig Sauer did a steel BB version of their airsoft version of this airgun instead of this.
@AlainHubert3 жыл бұрын
Update to my previous comment. This airgun has now gone back in its box (yes it does come in a nice box, no dreaded plastic clamshell here) and I will not shoot it anymore. I really didn't enjoy it. I'll probably try to sell it (been used only for about 12 magazines). I wish I could get a refund from Sig Sauer for having produced such a disappointing airgun. Looks aren't everything. I've got much better airguns in my collection. Some very nice 1911 and a Glock 17 Gen 4 (both BB with functional blowback). I also have the rather expensive German-made Umarex non-blowback pellet airgun which is much more accurate and powerful than this Sig Sauer M17.

Haha all i see is the magazine. I dont know about that SS mag but with the Gamo mag they could notch where the pellets load to be able to see a round.
