It's frustrating, really. I technically am Portuguese, and people just assume I'm fluent in it (I mean, i can speak. I can literally insult you in Portuguese, but that's besides the point).

Fr I can't speak my mother's tongue (I'm from Bangladesh but I lived in Ireland my entire life) and my mam occasionally complains how I can't speak Bengali because she sometimes can't understand what I say in English, isn't it good that I understand what she's saying in Bengali tho? 😭
