SIGMA 24-70mm vs SONY 24-105mm | Which One to Keep?

I ran into this problem. I decided to use the Sony 24-105mm for video gigs because of the OSS, and primes for photography. Without the OSS, I would have gone with Sigma 24-70mm.

I have that perfect world as I own both the Sony 24-105mm f4 G OSS and the Sigma Art 24-70mm f2.8 DG DN and love them both, and will keep them both for stills and video with my current A1, A7RIV, A7SIII. Cheers

Nice comparison! I have got a long decision process between these two lenses. But the turning point for me was Sony introducing cash-back for the lens. I have paid 899 euro for Sony vs 1149 euro for Sigma in EU. Additionally Sony: - is less heavy, - is smaller, - has more reach, - has stabilization which is good for video, Sigma is 2.8 but I have primes 1.8 so F4 is not so painful (to be honest in low light even 1.8 losing against speed lights) Still, it was hard decision to make but as for now I am happy with sony ;-) I am planning to have zoom combo with Sigma 100 400 DN. one question though: have you got opportunity to test AF in good light conditions between these two lenses? I wonder how Sigma is doing with sport. Thank you!

Very good honest review indicating how difficult it is to choose sometimes. I think the Sony is the right choice because weight is a factor and so are range and stabilization, and cost of filters. Is the depth of field really so important over those other factors?...NO!

i have sigma 24-70, and i am thinking of taking 24-105 as well. I would like to use 24-105 for travel and landscapes, but I would like to use 24-70 for weddings and events. Am I crazy to do this? I also have the sigma 100-400, and together with the sigma 14-24 I could make a perfect trio for travel: 14-24, 24-105 and 100-400. Nothing more would be needed.

@@SkipperGeffen I had no problems with dust, but because of COVID I didn't use it much in "risky" situations. in the past I had serious problems with the Tamron 28-75. after a few marriages and a couple of trips it was full of internal dust.
