Lovely playing, nice guitars too! I have to say though, this video was a striking example of how much worse acoustic piezo pickups usually sound vs. a good mic…

I have an AMI OM acoustic/electric (USA version of Sigma, same guitar but different branding) and it is mind boggling how great these things are. I would definitely recommend

Old friend of mine has a Sigma from the early years. When we would have jam sessions, he would break it out. Has great tone, cedar top with rosewood back and sides.

Sigma are one of my favourite affordable acoustics. and ive tried quite a few. suprisingly the Vintage ones are pretty decent too for the money. however at this price point you are close to the middle range eastman acoustics..... and..... you really would be well served to go eastman instead.

Well, I have a Sigma guitar and the only thing she is missing is a good pickup which I'm planning on upgrading. (it's good for the money) If and when I will have to choose again I'm going for a Sigma! Baby do they sound GOOD!? and fun to play...just saying!

Wow, Pau Ferro looks alot better as a single panel than a cheap fretboard... I honestly think I enjoyed the tone on those more too.

Spruce/Pau Ferro is a good option if you want something different than usual. Baton Rouge X54 OM can be a great choice if you have bigger hands like mine because of it's 46mm nut widht. Even if it has laminate back and sides it sounds like an all solid guitar and it's wery fancy finish.

I got a OOO from you guys a few months ago. I love it, looks amazing, very light, plays quite well. Not pleased with the set up though, the action is way too high, most likely I’ll need to spend another £50 on a professional set up. Maybe something that you guys could consider for the future? Maybe offer a set up service before delivery? Personally I would have paid the extra money just to have the peace of mind that it was done by a professional dude. Anywho, great guitar, very good quality for the money, thank you 👍🏼

@MarcCoteMusic3 жыл бұрын
They all sounded nice acoustically but the LR Baggs pickup and preamp really let me down, particularly on the OM shape. I know it's a problem with a piezo system but these were particularly poor... and LR Baggs usually sound pretty good.

I would like to try the triple-0 P too! I read the specs, scale length is 25.4", so it's basically more similar to a Martin OM instead of Martin 000?

Are you saying “tripple O” Or “treble O” ? Or is that just a difference between the usa and english pronunciation? Like Zee and Zed?
@samwinstanley68203 жыл бұрын
Treble means the same as Triple but in the UK we would more likely say Treble, e.g. in darts Treble 20. Treble also is a singing pitch (e.g. Treble Clef) but that's a different word, spells and sounds the same.

Are they still associated with Martin?
@brin573 жыл бұрын
No. The parent company is German, for the last 8 years or so. Current Sigmas are indeed fine guitars, as good or better than anything they have ever done. It was in Martins interest for them to be 2nd fiddle. There are no such obligations now and they aim to rule their place in the market with their all solids. Their all solid mahogany S000-15m is so damn close to the Martin it is ridiculous. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5-bhGCjhMp_gKs

The guitars are lovely and all. I really do, however, need to know how the ever living FAQ Ben LOST weight during COVID and looks so good. I can barely wear my jeans nowadays. 😱 [Edited to add: I think that Pau Ferro sounds fantastic. I love its similarity to rosewood with the harmonics.]
@zerosiii3 жыл бұрын
Has anyone ever compared these to entry level Martins? I.e. the 000 Sigma vs the 000-X1/X2? I'd like to see that, especially as I was considering buying an X2, but these Sigmas sound early similar to them
@axel.lessio2 жыл бұрын
The Sigmas are way better, no comparison. For 800 euros you can get an excellent guitar and you'd need to spend 2000+ to get the same quality from a Martin. In other words, you get a lot more bang for your buck with a Sigma regardless of price range. They are wonderful guitars.
@norbertplaysguitar72442 жыл бұрын
I tried an X2 and bought a Sigma. You can’t beat those solid woods in that price range, cause Martin only uses HPL in that category and that sounds okay but feels cheap and won’t grow in sound over time like real wood does. I also own a Martin 000M15 and the Signa OOOP-Model - they sound different because of the different woods but really work well together and play as good.

Don't know if the thin, fizzy sound all of them had when plugged in is the result of the pickup, the amp or what. But they sound really bad plugged in. Through the mic, the sound good. The pau ferro sounds better than mahogany. Rosewood guitars always sound better than mahogany though, to my ear at least.

Lovely as these new Sigmas may be, they certainly DO NOT have macassar ebony fretboards. The fretboards are Micarta - a man made composite. Hence, the “all solid wood” moniker is rather misleading.

@@axel.lessio Yamahas deliver great quality at non-Martin prices
@axel.lessio2 жыл бұрын
@@NoirRobert, agreed, but I think they’re at the same level as Sigma, just a different sound. Great value though, and to be honest any brand with all solid woods at fair prices is worth considering before any Martin. In this case, Sigma is an actual “sounds like” alternative many are after, that’s where I think it’s unique.
@NoirRobert2 жыл бұрын
@@axel.lessio You are possibly correct. I have played Yamaha's and so I know how they feel and sound and I think they are great. I think Taylors and Martins are also fine but it feels more like you are buying the heritage and the name cache. I can only judge the Sigma's from this video, so I have never felt the neck or heard how they sound in real life. So there is a bit of guessing on my part.
