This is a new idea for me. More birds traps would help me out. Thanks guys.

thank you for that. I don't think it is much to ask to subscribe and share at the end of the video. And my numbers have been going through the roof since I started doing it everytime! Thanks for the support!

I'll teach anyone that will learn. But I am a red blooded american that loves my country and my priority is to make sure my brethren are well trained.

its what I do for a living, so I am exposed to instructors from all over the country to gather interesting knowledge. I also enjoy just inventing things and trying them. Tom Brown books are a great reading source for interesting bushcraft knowledge also.

I agree on the crows. Crows and ravens are actually the smartest of all birds. I've watched them drag roadkill further into the lane of traffic so that when a car runs over it, the dead animal gets mashed and makes it easier for them to get at the meat and inards.

I just have to say I'm a huge fan of your videos. My buddy told me about your channel, and I can't get enough. Keep it up! And with regards to the "bothering your viewers" at the end of the video? I completely disagree. Keep it up! Thank you!

Thanks for taking the time to put this video on youtube. If you string up an old cast net with a few small treble hooks and some bait, you can catch many at a time. Just make sure you take it down before you leave.

I just bought a few yoyo traps.... Havent had a chance to se them yet but I love em already. With this trap I think if you pinch the string between the perch and the hole instead of using the trigger on the yoyo it'd be more effective.
@sigma3survivalschool12 жыл бұрын
Oh because it takes significantly more time and energy to do. I'd have to make the bow drill and then spend a fair amount of time drilling it. 5 mins with knife and done! Less able to make adjustments for the hole w bowdrill also. Knife is much more effective. But if you had to do something totally primitive that would be an option for making the hole.
@Joe_Goofball11 жыл бұрын
I've seen it work--I think it was a Nyerges survival video, though it may have been another guy. Like all primitive traps, it's probably a long shot for success, and multiple sets should be made...
@SINESTERSERPENTSIXXX12 жыл бұрын
thanks robert i thought that was the idea for this trap was to make it with supplies on hand. my bad. i figured if you could burn a nice round smooth walled hole by using friction you would have a much more fine(sensitive) a trigger. just thinking out loud. love the videos keep up the outstanding work. thanks again j.p.loiselle arizona city, AZ

point taken. But honestly this advice comes from a doctorette in marketing and my numbers have gone through the roof since I started asking. The number one thing in sales is to ask the customer to buy. Or subscribe or whatever your objective. You have to ask. A majority of the viewers will be new people so I have to ask in any video. But just know that at the end of every video the same thing is coming and just click to something else.

i like your videos alot i just have one thing to say birds are not stupid in fact most animals are rather smart the reason traps like this work is cause its not what the bird expect just like you dont expext to go to the fridge after a shower and end up in a net niether dose the pray
@sigma3survivalschool12 жыл бұрын
just google it. its also called an automatic fishing reel.

good video i think traps of opportunity would be a good video meaning if you see the animal and it goes in a hole in the ground or tree to set a trap to where it can not get out with out getting trapped. their are other ways of trapping if you have access to water your prey goes in a hole fill it up with water
@SINESTERSERPENTSIXXX12 жыл бұрын
sorry rob just was wondering why you didn't use a bow drill to make your perch stick hole. instead of carving it with a knife. just thought it might have been a better fit for the stick using the bow drill to burn the hole through the sapling.
@tofupower1311 жыл бұрын
have you ever used an esee knife? amazing knives with an unbeatable warranty
@sigma3survivalschool12 жыл бұрын
I should correct myself. Not all birds are stupid. Crows are the smartest damn animal I have ever seen. They do amazing things that surprise me all the time. But small birds are most certainly not intelligent in most cases. But there are always exceptions to the rules.

When I was a kid, I had "pet" snakes that had to be fed. Most snakes will eat pre-killed prey, so I'd set mousetraps in trees to catch small, sparrow-sized birds. I "painted" the bait pedal and around it with karo syrup and sprinkled bird seeds over the pedal and wood base. Wired the trap to a branch. Worked great. Could Rat traps be adapted for survival use?
@thetacountry44875 жыл бұрын
Leonard Urban I never thought of that. I’m sure it could! Damn good idea
@sigma3survivalschool12 жыл бұрын
???? What do you mean?
@gmyers211210 жыл бұрын
using just a sprig of berries will work better then the whole branch of berries as the branch and leaves are likely to foul your trap when it springs and the bird will escape.
@modernhereticnw7 жыл бұрын
An easy method for drilling without an awl is to use a bow, pump, or hand drill. Creates a really nice burnished hole. You can also fabricate a drill head using stone/glass if you're into making a better tool.
