One of the most enduring and important ideas of Sigmund Freud was that the human mind can be divided into three levels of consciousness: the unconscious, preconscious and conscious minds. Here is a perfect fictional example in the movie The Lord of the Rings: Id - Gollum (instinctual, impulsive and irrational desires). Superego - Sam (moral convictions, loyalty). Ego - Frodo (mediator between Gollum and Sam throughout the film).

As an image of the divine, you can achieve to be neither light nor dark. Neither the predator nor the prey, but the very balance itself that these 2 seeks to achieve.
