One thing I got wrong in this video was the fact that people submitting to SiIva ARE allowed to post their rips AFTER a submitted rip is upload; I said the opposite at 7:05. It is preferred that the rip hasn't been posted anywhere else BEFORE it is submitted, which is where the mix up came up.

6:48 actually, there are some instances of specific things (mix names, for example) that make it obvious what the joke is gonna be. To give some examples: Most _Sonic Mania_ rips feature some form of reference to Totino's. A majority of _Sonic CD_ Beta Mixes are Sega Genesis arrangements of the original tracks. More often than not, "JP Version" will either denote a rip featuring a song of Japanese origin (For example, "Ren'ai Circulation" from _Bakemonogatari)_ or a rip featuring "It's Everyday Bro" by Jake Paul ft. Team 10 (As "JP" can mean either Japan or Jake Paul).

this video is pretty cool, like cookiefonster said i appreciate that it covers a lot of the history rather than just older times like 2016. something i'd really like to mention though is that I wish more people realized that contributing to the channel and making rips in general has gotten so many people into music production and some even grew to be composers because i feel like some still think the team is just "people who are gonna spend the rest of their lives putting memes in music" which sounds kind of pathetic though i cant blame people that much for seeing it like that haha
@OutOfCharacters4 жыл бұрын
SiIva definitely seems like an excellent opportunity to dip your toe into music production. Just from observing Clod, I saw that being on the team and contributing rips helped him develop his skills as a musician and composer, and I could definitely see people using it as a springboard to entering the field in other ways. Being in a community of musicians would also give you a lot of connections and opportunity to network, which I could see being helpful as well.
@CookieFonster4 жыл бұрын
this video is great and made me smile a lot. its one of the few video essays about siivagunner ive seen that actually goes into the channel's modern times and vibrant community rather than just the memes and events of 2016. i also want to say as someone who joined the channel's team in 2018, it feels absolutely surreal to be a part of it all and even meet a lot of members in person. perhaps the craziest part is that my face is in this video at 8:29 (bottom right of the picture), something i never would have thought possible back when i first heard of the channel.
@OutOfCharacters4 жыл бұрын
I think it would have been a disservice to only dwell on what happened in the earlier years of the channel when there was so much to cover and appreciate in later years. Some of the best rips, memes, and events only came about later, so it doesn't make sense to ignore them even though the memes might not be as well known. Thanks for watching, I'm happy you enjoyed it :]

KZbin recommendations pulling through! Very nice video; you do a good job generalizing where the channel has gone beyond 2016/Season 1. And yeah, this community is incredibly silly, albeit wholesome. Whether you're a contributor, a viewer, or simply a fan, there is something for everyone willing to put in the effort to find the gems you like. Collaborative events/projects are my favourite things on this channel because it truly shows what this community can do when it works together. And of course, there is no bigger primary example of this than King for Another Day, one of, if not the biggest internet VGM collaboration I've ever seen. Watching this video just feels like a trip down memory lane. I remember stumbling upon the SiivaGunner channel some time around late summer to early fall of 2016. Just like most people who first stumble upon the channel, I was bamboozled by the videos and rips they offered. I eventually became an instant fan of them especially after knowing that there's lore and stories behind the channel's existence. To be frank, I haven't gotten caught up on all the SiivaGunner fun since spring 2019. I just sort of left the high quality fun times and moved on from it. Occasionally, I check up on what the channel is up to here and there. Even though I don't get caught up to date on all the events they host such as KFAD & SiivaFest, it makes me happy that they're still around to this day continuing on making high quality video game rips for this awesome community.

As a (fairly) long-time viewer and SiIvacord member, you hit a lot of points that I appreciate about the community. It's legitimately a great community, I love hanging out there. The King For A Day tournaments were great, and the second was NUTS in terms of scale. I have a playlist of all 578 rips (35 hours 50 minutes) that were made in KFAD2 - between 11/22/2019 and 12/25/2019. They seriously uploaded an hour of music daily for over a month. And the bulk of it is legitimately great - I listen to a lot of it to this day.
@OutOfCharacters3 жыл бұрын
The king for a day 2 tournament was crazy, definitely a masterwork of the channel. So much planning, time and effort must have went into making it all happen, I can't even imagine how it all got done.

@@OutOfCharacters For sure! Fun fact, for Teknopathic (a DJ Prof K rip), they actually booked Bunker Studio in NYC (Googled it, rates start at $300/5 hours) and had 7 people work on it. The albums combined are over 5 gigabytes compressed. And the takeover itself was nuts too. The livestream they made was almost 11 hours and had someone DJing the stream in the voice of DJ Professor K (25 minutes judging by the reel). They even had fake commercials (27 minutes) and bumpers (14.5 minutes) all referencing events that had happened on the channel. Not to mention the roughly 240 rips, which were almost all great. It was such a cool experience, and I didn't even vote for K. That's such a cool thing about the channel to me - no matter who won, it would've been something to remember. Even the goofy "one-off" takeovers are something to remember, like the recent Russian takeover or the Inspector Gadget + Nostalgia Critic takeover. The ideas often sound incredibly bizarre, but they're great whether they're great music or really goofy. Even when they're not going all out, they go all out. When they go all out, they would surpass commercial projects - but there aren't even any comparable ones. The community are really the only group of people who recognize the effort behind this - and they/we LOVE them for that. Someone not on the team is making "KFAD Encore" and hiring people - some from the team - to make rips for that. They're spending around $10K, I believe. That's a strong indicator of how much people like the channel. It's almost impossible to describe the channel to (say) a parent or grandparent, let alone the takeovers and tournaments. But despite that, and despite the fact that everyone is anonymous and most stay anonymous, and despite not making money or "street cred", and despite the risks associated with the project as a whole (like when they were almost shut down) - the team still does that. It's almost a magical idea to me. It started as a shitpost channel doing mashups, and it became this insane project that practically defines the term "high quality". The channel is a bizarre concept that evolved into dedicated creators working for no personal benefit, and a dedicated community for them. (Sorry for the long comment, I didn't mean to go on that long.)

When I asked about the reason, he said they didn't respect the rules, which got me curious, when has SiIvaGunner did a RoR rip, and what rules did they break? I didn't ask further, thinking it might be too personal. Now, I kinda want to know the answer, but afraid that knowing more details could ruin my feelings about both sides. So I just wanna type this here, letting this sink, or someone might find this and give me answer. Algorithm give me this video, so I shall give something in return.
