There are Sikhs who are Sindhis, Kashmiris, Biharis, Gujaratis, Marathis, Tamilians, English, Americans, Mexicans, Spanish, and many more who belong to many states in India and countries world wide and not Punjab alone. Punjabi is a language and not a religion, also, Sikhism is a religion and not a language.

She said Gurmukhi. It is a script in which Sikh holy book is written. The word consists of two words , Gur + mukhi. Gur means Guru (master) and mukhi means from the mouth.

I think u are not aware that after partition Punjabis were not confined to punjab alone, Punjabis spread through out India and abroad,but remember that they were not all sikhs, even today a large population of punjabis have settled out side Punjab in India and they follow religions other than Sikhism too. World wise, Punjabi is spoken by a majority in Pakistan though Sikhs are in a minority, Punjabis 'dominate in pakistan but are all muslim majority and yet feel proud to be Punjabis

No I am well aware of that, my father is from Lahore and his sister Quetta. Yet what i am saying is vast majority of Sikhs anywhere a punjabi descendants, few sikhs are from other ethnicities, unfortunately it is tied up in the cultural bondage. Pakistan is dominated by Punjabis and they are nearly all muslim. Sikhs did not even figure in the last Pakistan census, the second religious group of Pakistan Punjab is Christianity and the Hinduism, both pitifully small populations.

AFAIK, Sikhism pretty much teaches the same things as Christianity with slight variations due to country and culture. To say Sikhism is an extension of another religion is abit disrespectful to say the least but I think Ghandi said it best: "I like your Jesus and I like your Christianity, but it's a shame your Christians are nothing like your Jesus". Both their values maybe similar but it boils down to who practices their faith instead of hiding behind it.

Sikhism is an extension of development of religion in the same manner as Christianity from Judaism or for that matter Islam. They have not developed in isolation with no commonality. Much of the Sikh scriputure is contributed by several Hindu Bhaktas/Bhagats as well as some Muslim. Yet there is no central concept of Reincarnation, Karma and dharma in Christianity as there is between Hindu theologies, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism.
