@@jamiehuynh9622 fyi silat firstly invented as assasin technic in indonesia and malaysia, after century of war etc. it develope to be a form of martial art. hence why most of silat "jurus" or what you called movement targeting vital area such as throat, crotch, back of the neck, eyes etc. unlike other martial art that movement was meant to immobilize the opponent, silat were meant to kill. that's why you can hardly find silat competition, because it is not for "inside the ring"

@@japanesejesus4610 In some other videos I see some "MMA IS DA BEST!!!!" mocking silat. They think it's in the same as Taichi for the older people. They only see the show, the "pencak" but not the "silat" itself. When I was a kid, I often see street fighting in our small town here in Sumatra. Never see anybody died but when I grow up I realized some of them should've been dead if it wasn't for some bystanders brought them ASAP to hospital or somewhere else to stop their painfully wounds.

Mengapa saat cutting the tree, anda membelakangi musuh? Karena, di saat itu musuh sedang berdarah, apabila kau melihat musuh berdarah, emosimu akan naik (bernafsu) untuk segera menghabisinya & gerakanmu akan tak beraturan (out of focus) Itulah point of pencak silek (BELAJAR MELAWAN HAWA NAFSU)

I'm curious as to what stage of Karambit training this is because he's running over those techniques very quick. The jab itself with that little hop is fine but it's when he goes down to the patella tendon (or where he should be going it seems this is just random placed slicing) he doesn't explain the vitality of getting behind the knee cap, just my personal observation though.

FINALLY - *INDONESIAN* martial arts using an INDONESIAN (or Indo-Malay) weapon! I'm sick to death of seeing the Kerambit used as a friggin' dueling weapon with a numbering system and every Eskrima teacher from here to Cebu dragging it through the garden of Filipino Martial Arts. Don't get me started on American Silat. Seriously. *DON'T*. Thank you for posting this!

This guy knows silat, familiar with the terms...fair enough but his form of silat, watever it has evolved into thru training and practical use, mainly suits just himself. I mean no disrespect but one flaw in his teachings is when he demos the technique to evade a stabbing strike to the mid section...his student stands square facing him while he is in bladed stance. Student should be instructed to leave the disadvantageous square stance and move to a bladed stance too, a position where he is out of line of attack, at a harder angle to strike at...its basic really but his student was kinda stiff, unsure. In his defence, might be his first time using a weapon in training but he is no beginner coz nobody jumps to weapons training when starting to learn a martial art. It should have been instinctive. And the evasion technique taught was, in my opinion, questionable. Its much safer to parry/slap the bladed attack, rather than pivot away from attack, which actually should have already been applied instinctively by the student. He should have realised and corrected the demo. Sorry for being long-winded but silat is the traditional form of martial art for people of my heritage/race, its in our culture this i am just trying to explain things in a clearer manner...and "bunga" means flower...its just like its namesake, a showpiece. Not saying it has no use but mainly for show or flow practice like japanese "kata"...i think thats wat they call it in karate🤔...im no expert but learning is a lifelong process...im gonna shut up now✌️

Not putting Your dress methods down but do people wear socks on the streets ?? if your gonna train you need to practice also with what you dayly carry and what you normally wear .other wise all the expansive moves do you no good if your wearing 2.4 lb boots each and tight jeans .... Just my opinion , and i also train in water running and my katats . and use slightly heaver training weapons than i would carry due to , you get used to using more weight and when u use the less weight your also faster.. and more accurate than before.. Great i do like Silat

@@youtuberamatir453 The karambit or kerambit (as used in Indonesian), kurambik or karambiak (both from the Minangkabau language) is a small Indonesian curved knife resembling a claw from Minangkabau people of West Sumatra. I have heard about the disadvantages of Kerambit against Combat knife, but Silat itself were meant to be mainly used to fought at uneven area (eg. swamp), limited space or space full of obstruction (rainforest jungle). Kerambit is an optimal extension for Silat for those area where space are limited or movement are slowed.

I would say Kerambit have more advantages than combat knife.. usually it will be harder for your enemy to estimate the trajectory of a kerambit's blade..and while combat knife is good for stabbing, kerambit works better in severing and cutting the flesh and tendon..in the past where people engage close combat, having an enemy who used kerambit on you will mostly resulting to death due to bleeding (even after you managed to kill them)..the only way to fight them is to use Parang (Malay version of machete) and killed them before they can come close to you..
