I now have two suppressors. This deer season is the first time I used one, the Banish Backcountry, on 2 rifles, a Tikka 7PRC and a Tikka 6.5PRC-AW. All over youtube and the internet I've read and heard once you use a suppressor you'll always want to do so. As of today I've tagged 15 whitetails since rifle season opened. Every rifle I took down to Alabama (total of 8) has a threaded barrel. I used a suppressor on 3 hunts only, and got 3 deer each time. All the other hunts and kills were w/o a suppressor, as I've done for decades. The jury is still out for me on this whole suppressor thing, but deer don't react the same way every time a rifle shoots and makes a big bang. Sometimes the survivors run, sometimes they just stand there, even if they are inside 100 yards and watch one of their compadres just hit the dirt. Frankly, I expected the suppressor to dampen the rifle report a lot more than it did so as of right now, I'm not really all that impressed. For me, now especially, the primary reason for me to get a barrel muzzle threaded is for resale value only. I still need to see how my Banish 30 does but I've lived with long barrels (APPROPRIATE) length barrels (26" + for magnums, 24" for everything else) for decades and I'm content with their performance, velocities, and weight. I've got a lot more projects to get done this next year and I don't think I'm going to get any of those barrel muzzles threaded. Don't mean to sound negative but I just don't see the magic using a suppressor.

To each his own for sure. I definitely prefer less recoil, less percussive force, and (obviously) less loud noise for me. I don’t use them because of how the animals respond - it’s still a loud noise they aren’t used to, but the other reasons are definitely worth it for me.

Oily carp, Fatman. 15 whitetails so far? Bragging rights for sure. Excessive? I think so. How about leaving some to re-populate. Or maybe a couple for me other guy. Just my two cents. Keep the change.

That’s definitely a nice option to be able to add a break or suppressor, and the price is definitely fair. Thanks for sharing your experience, be well my friends.

Definitely worth it if you don't have a pencil barrel or live in a backwards country that doesn't allow mufflers on their firearms. Of course if you are having a barrel blank cut and chambered you will have it threaded even if it is just for a tuner. Its very likely your local gunsmith can accomplish this for you and has done quite a few of them, definitely support local small business if you have the option. Thanks for the video!

I had them thread 2 barrels for me on a couple of CVA Scout rifles. local gunsmiths said they could not do it. Sent them, got a quick turnaround and they did a fantastic job. I cannot say enough about how great the service was.

I have a super-match grade barrel. Nice and thick at the muzzle, .8935". Do you make a supressors for this thickness of barrel? .300 Winchester Magnum.

They didn't contact you before they threaded it to a thread you didnt request?! Thats crazy I would be so mad if they threaded it to something i hadn't asked for without checking with me. I understand if the the barrel is too thin but they need to contact you first

They tell you that ahead of time - meaning it’s on the website that they will thread to the most appropriate threading.

Do you still use that break? Have you found other breaks to be as good, if so would you list them?

If the brakes I’ve used that Area 419 Hellfire is the best for recoil reduction. The Cyclone in the video is very good, too.

As a gunsmith, I am here to tell you: No! You will take a risk, spend more cash, and most likely change the way the rifle shoots. Just buy a new barrel threaded and avoid the risk. I was just at the range and watched a high end rifle (that got threaded) blow the can right off the end of the barrel ... because it was never tested. Also, I have seen the wrong muz dev get put on after threading and seen a resized bullet come out the end. LOL

Gotta give an alternative option here (I've done it 3x's and am extremely satisfied). WITT MACHINE provides CUSTOM machined CLAMP-ON devices that are manufactured to your gun's dimensions for $70 - $90. You install yourself. The only waiting is for it to arrive in your mailbox with no FFL shipping fee ON TOP of the cost of the shipping/threading fee, plus any other options you select. PLUS you have NOT altered the condition of the original item (which CAN, & probably WILL lower it's resale value). The way I see it is if you can modify something without altering it (for LESS), WHY not go that route? But hey it's YOUR $money$, do what you want with it. At least give Witt Machine a looky-loo. They've got some pretty good MRE/brakes also. I've bought several items and have NEVER had any disappointments nor regrets.
