I like the remake version. Everything's great, opening the game with Mary's voice is what makes me most excited. The voice actors did a great job.

Probably the best version of James here, the subtle acting and neutral expressions helps a lot to emphasize his depression and melancholy. Maria, however... while subtlety is the point of this remake, this character should've been better off to act more obvious, more out there, if that makes sense. This is afterall a figure of hallucination, something unreal born from a wish, kind of like a ghost or a demon, she shouldn't have had the subtlety of a human. Should've been more expressive, fatally seductive, even close to demonic just like herself in the OG. Really liked both Mary though, both are different... but equally good.

Maria is not a demon or ghost, she is the manifestation of James's imagination of an "ideal Mary" created by Silent Hill, so she is not to be "fatally seductive" or "demonic", she should just be Mary, only with better personality which James wished for. So in the final boss fight, it's not Maria or Mary who is fighting against James. Which ever the ending is, he was fighting his own clinging.

@@Nevetsieg I should've emphasized "kind of", she's an idealized version of Mary born from James' wish and not a demon. But in the OG she did act unnatural, fair to say most characters are but she was the most standout one.

Yeah, you can see especially in Laura's facial structure how they inspired/base the new models from the actors, they don't HAVE to look exactly the same, that's why it's called inspiration/base, they tried to also combine this like "base" with the concepts of the characters and some of the characteristics from the OGs are still here(Especially in Angela, ACTUALLY).

Luke and Gianna did FANTASTIC jobs with their performances IMO. At first i didnt like Giannas deeper register for Angela, but the way she brings lifeless emotion and real sounding trauma to the character hooked me for her take.

No. I feel the same. In particular Laura...I mean? Looks almost like the character was made after the voice actor lol. And also the VA for James. Give that dude blonde and longer hair and remove his beard, then he looks like James. It's actually kinda creepy that all of them look so similiar.

I mean they used the facial expressions from the VAs because the VAs really played as their characters so that some movements and like i said before some facial expressions look more real and that´s why they look so similar i guess! The Female actresses got their faces butchered in the Game. The Male Characters are better than in the Original. Yet the females in the Original were more interesting.
