Highly recommend the business edition! I started with the basic and within a year I gradually upgraded to the business edition. It’s absolutely amazing what you can do with it 🎉

I got the Business Edition on Black Friday for $50. I’m still learning how to cut. 😩😩😩 I’m used to my Cricut and their system.

I progressed f rom basic to Designer, and then Business. Love it ! If only to use 3 machines at once! Yep, i kept all my older machines, and love running multiple machines to get a project made that much faster. My biggest problem continues to be figuring out which update to be using...there is a good subject for discussion. Some lag my machine, but you cant do a import to library unless you are usong a certain level... and so the saga continues.

I get overwhelmed running more than 1 at a time. 😅 I need to practice that. As far as the software goes, I only update if I have to and then hope it works well. They have a group of users that test the beta versions before they're released, but I'm not part of that so my information is limited.

I have the business version. Can you go over the versions. I have a 3 and running a Mac book with version 4.1. Just bought a 4 pro and wondering what version will work best

Do you have any tips for managing your license key activations? In the past, I think I had to contact Silhouette and have them ALL deactivated to free them up, and start over (or sometimes they'll approve an additional activation). I recently had a hard drive failure and needed a new hard drive, but fortunately had an activation left on my upgrade. I worry about the next time. Usually I only need to do this when I get a new computer (or need a new hard drive). I would love to clean out my account to approve activation only the two computers I use regularly.

I didn't know I could use my key on another computer when mine broke so....I bought a new computer AND business edition again from Swing Designs. The basic was free but, I can't get the business to download....help! What can I do?

I would contact Swing Design to see if you can get a refund, honestly. To install the upgrade to Business Edition, go to the Help tab in Silhouette Studio, and look for Apply Upgrade Edition. You should be able to enter your license key there. If you do end up getting a refund on the second purchase, you can find the original license key on the Silhouette America website under your account.

Does the designer edition save to dxf or svg or other formats?

You'll need Business Edition to save to any format other than a Silhouette file.

What’s the barcode for?

The barcode is used with print and cut and basically allows you to print your projects, then cut them at a later time without having the original design open on your mat. This is helpful if you have several different pages to design and cut. For instance, if I wanted to make 3 different sticker sheets, I would have to design, print, cut, design, print, cut in order to be sure that none of my design elements got moved out of place. With the barcode, you can design them all, then print them all, and cut whenever because the info is all stored in the barcode.

Yep! You can use business edition with any of the Silhouette machines.
