Younger folks too often can’t afford to buy a home because: a) they often won’t accept a smaller, older, less ideal home b) they won’t sacrifice coffees, meals out, holidays, new clothes etc c) they leave home and rent - therefore spending money they could be saving - so have no money for a deposit. It totally can be done, but sacrifice and wisdom is needed. Some of my thoughts!

I completely agree. My husband and I got married and bought a house in 2022 and we are in our early and mid 20s. He was working a part time job at the time. We saved money by living with family and friends until we closed on our 1970s fixer upper house, cut our discretionary spending down to almost zero and had a small, outdoor wedding without expensive decor, live flowers, alcohol, a DJ, ect. Not to mention, our honeymoon was in the US, no crazy tropical trip abroad. Our families helped a lot with wedding costs but we still payed for a lot of it and wouldn’t change anything. We are probably a decade ahead of our peers in the housing regard because we were frugal and didn’t move out ASAP or spend on every cute trendy thing we wanted.

Allie trying to parse what her guest is saying reminded me of my school days, trying to make sense of a typical lesson. I was glad when high school ended. My teachers and parents got onto me about my grades, whereas I looked at it as more of a pass or fail thing. My grades seemed more or less independent of the amount of effort I put in. I tried hard, but my grades fell all over the place. My mind was not designed for school.

I rented for decades. It was a dumb waste of money. You pay more money and get no equity. I was never sure I wanted or could afford the commitment, but it was one of the best financial decisions I have made to buy a home and pay it down quickly. I didn't look for "what can I qualify for?" I was looking for "what do I need?" Plenty of room, no significant repairs needed, but also I didn't go for broke just because the mortgage lender said I could take out more if I wanted.

A quick question.....If you are a Christian are you saying you like the dress and would wear it showing that much leg (as if it is ok for a Christian to wear that).....Or are you just liking it on that woman who has no qualms wearing things revealing?? I am not trying to be mean, I am trying to understand Allie's position as a Christian, etc.....(I am not knocking her either). For me, as a Christian, Anything too revealing I would have to give a low score........

So Silicon Valley Bank had tons of deposited cash, they purchased bonds with over 50% of it. Then the Fed raised interest rates to deal with inflation causing new bonds to have higher yields (5% vs 1% that SVB paid), with that and the risky market conditions people banking with SVB pulled their money out for a better opportunity (5% gains vs less in SVB). SVB couldnt cover all the depositors trying to withdraw money, so they sold their bonds at a loss which spiraled.

Ok I just looked up why is the carpet beige at the Oscars? The academy decided to go with a champagne carpet to show off the dresses. Celebrities only found out about it two days before so those who chose a pale color were out of luck. Anyone wearing white, beige or even pale pink blended into the carpet. After a few people walked on it all the dirt showed up! I’m guessing they’re gonna return to a red carpet next year.

She said it wasnt a solvency issue but also said it was a liquidity issue in the same sentence? Those are synonyms; it was a solvency issue, they didnt have enough cash and cash equivalents to pay their current liabilities (deposits payable). Also, i dont know why she felt like she had to disparage the American workforce. The American work force is the most productive in the world both nominally and per capita. For perspective, the gdp of the entirety of europe was roughly the same as the usa last year despite Europe having collectively over 2x the population of the usa. It follows that the american worker is twice as productive as the european worker and several times more productive than most other workers around the globe

I live in El Salvador. The lower and middle class here as a whole work very hard and, as the gangs have been controlled, people have so much more security than when thw gangs were like a foreign army occupying the country. The people often earn very little but even the non violent prisoners work very hard. The plan is like Nada de Ocio. No laziness or idleness. There is an incredible work ethic. Those few who spend less than they make have had upward mobility. They are a much more dynamic labor force, possibly due to the really hard times they have survived, to family unity and traditional values plus math prowess.

Pugh maybe going for quirky BUT the Oscars is not for quirky fashion it's for formal evening gowns. Actors can change into quirky for the Vanity Fair afterpart, but the Oscar dress should match the formal occasion. Dress increasing became crazy after Cher's dress in 86s until the Swan dress of 01. At some point the Oscar sent a memo reminding people to wear formal attire to this formal event and fashion elegance had a resurgence. This Oscar fashion was so bad, it's regressed to cheap 'shock and awe' -the cheapest form of entertainment.

Love the easy to follow financial explanations. Disagree on Angela Bassett. I’d give her at least a 7. Don’t care for Cara Delevingne, but her dress is a 9. Agree on the rest (unless there is a score lower than 0 for the bedsheetS😏).

Thank you for making this so simple to understand. I am not a conspiracy theorist but...I believe there are buyers for the banks. However, l also believe the reluctance of the government to allow the sale is so the the government can keep control and eventually socialize all the banks. Just a thought🤔

"Screwed " was a word rarely used around a lady, (never BY a lady) when I was growing up. When did it become so normal? I know meanings of words evolve over time, but this is one I still cringe at when used other than in a carpentry setting. I did appreciated the video content though.👍

As one might expect, language is one of the main ways the decline in morality and character are being achieved. Let's not fool ourselves; there are very powerful evil forces at work here, using the multitudes of avenues and tools under their control to drive us even further into the mire. Even when we think a small battle is being won, the opposing forces are being marshalled and deployed elsewhere.
