@@captainhomer9199 Im looking at this cam for towing my 5500lb camper. Mostly runs 2500-2800rpm towing. Did you see 20ft/lb of torque gains over stock cam?? The dyno didn't overlay the stock run and I was curious since I saw an article claiming it gains as much in the low rpms where I need it for towing

I would go with the SDPC LS6 power max cam(204/222 .551 .570 112). My 2000 Yukon 4wd baselined stock @ 239whp/269wtq SAE on a Mustang dyno. After the SDPC LS6 cam/headers/TBSS manifold, it made 321whp/313wtq on the same dyno. That is 82whp/44wtq gain from baseline. This truck has stock truck manifold and headers, but it also has the better 799 heads vs my LM7 with 706 heads. So it makes the intake manifold difference a wash. Point is I would go a little bigger on the cam. You can achieve good low speed torque and a much stronger top end.

Thanks man. This is my truck and this shop has shut down. I'm thinking of possibly going with Truck Norris cam. Thoughts? Also any sizeable increase in HP with tbsp intake?

@@captainhomer9199how did you like the torque cam? It seems like a key ingredient in the recipe to make your engine feel as if it has 10% more displacement than I actually does. I'm thinking about putting it in a 6.0L so it'll be almost just like stock but a tad more grunt for towing and low end.

I tow with this truck and the torque down low is great for getting off the line. It has very little noticable chop, but doesn't surge and is great with the stock converter.

Thanks for this as I get ready to rebuild my top end I will be adding this cam in.. any other upgrades on this one? My goal is to boost up some low to mid power for when at highway travel speeds while towing. Want more power so it won't shift down so quickly. Any other tips on what to upgrade would be great. Already did efan swap and cold air intake and cat back flowmaster. I have 5.3 too BTW

Our most common package we do for daily/hauling trucks is getting rid of the DOD setup, adding a Cam and Headers along with a tune, then a transmission cooler and if necessary an upgraded torque converter. Otherwise throw a ProCharger on it, we've got a lot of guys that haul that love their ProCharger setups for pulling trailers. Feel free to call the shop directly for any more specific info, or to talk with our service guys! (269)350-9055 Thanks for watching!

Did you use a programmer or anything an addition to the cam? I have a bone stock '04 that I'd love to get this cam with a Black Bear tune, just to make it a great daily with extra oomph for towing.
@StrictlyPerformanceMotorsports3 жыл бұрын
We don't use or recommend handheld tuner/programmers. This truck, and all the vehicles through our shop getting this type of work done, are professionally custom tuned by our tuner with HP Tuners for each specific vehicle with their specific mods. Tuning is included in our "Cam Swap Special"s that we run for both 2008+ LS powered vehicles and separately for the 2014+ Gen.5 LT vehicles. More info here: www.strictlyperformance.parts/upgrades-installs More info on the Cam: briantooleyracing.com/ You can contact the shop directly by phone or email: (269)350-9055 | Mon-Fri/8am-5pm or Sales@strictlyPerformance.Parts *Last update I've had from our service guys is that we are not currently taking on any of the "Gen3" (Pre-2008) vehicles due to PCM/ECU restraints.

Why don't both runs start from 2000rpm!?? Does the BTR Cam have no power below 2500rpm?
@StrictlyPerformanceMotorsports2 жыл бұрын
Likely because this specific baseline was recorded by one of our techs, our tuner almost always starts his pull around 2,500rpm. The BTR Truck cams actually do extremely well in the low/mid range. This cam made about +70whp and +80ft.lbs at 2500rpm more than stock.
@RBock-gp2hn2 жыл бұрын
@@StrictlyPerformanceMotorsports But this is the only way to make an objective comparison. What use is a cam in the upper speed range has a good performance, but in the lower speed range is bad to drive. Basically I like BTR products very much.

@@socialjusticewarrior9601 What are you doing about the tune? I've heard several outcomes. That it will run, it will go into limp-in. I 100% plan on having it tuned to delete it. My question is how long will it run, and will it run enough to drive it to the tuner. I wish so much that I had gone ahead and had it deleted before I tore it down but ran out of time. Then wed before I tore it down Thursday, it went crazy with a U00073 can bus code, and trans went nuts. I never came up with a fix on that, it just kind of went away later on that day. Week leading up I noticed it ran and shifted funny. A few times it slammed into 1st making a slow turn. The big thing was I noticed it would engine brake real hard. It just wouldn't coast like it normally did with the 6l80e in it. The mileage went from 13ish to 9mpg in town. That 1 day for several hours the speedo would drop out. If I had the digital speedo up, even parked, it would read 0mph then go to ---mph and the engine would load up and start missing pretty hard. Then 5 seconds later it came back and idled smoothly. It has gone from a mint 2012 70k mile garage-kept jewel to maybe never running again for me lol. Should have used cash and traded toward that 20' Denali I wanted so bad lol

Great video! How well would this cam perform with a procharger?
@StrictlyPerformanceMotorsports2 жыл бұрын
It'd probably do alright for daily duty, this is not an aggressive cam for peak power numbers to take advantage of revving it out with the Procharger. (Most procharger dynograph curves look similar to NA) SO probably be a great driver, but (probably) not going to show big numbers up top But we haven't had anyone run that combo yet.
