Yes first we jacked the front all the way to see what our total droop travel was. Then we dropped it down to ride height. Then we calculated the amount of travel in the shock with the shock in and connected to the lower control arm. This gave us an idea of where the upper shock hoop should be. Great question!!!

several good ideas here but I can't say I would order a kit from them. as someone pursuing their aws certs and as someone who's been welding since they were 12, the tubular welds and a couple of the rings that I saw, physically pained me to look at, and think that you're going to trust that bombing through the desert or dunes

We actually set the final ride height based on the amount of lift we got with our Deaver leaf springs. After they were installed and we set up the front kit we cycled the suspension to determine where we needed to mount our shocks to achieve the correct ride height. Unfortunately there is no guide to follow for spring rate. If you contact Eibach and let them know certain things about your prerunner I am sure they can help you. A place to start with a fullsize 2WD truck is about 750lb springs.

Those boxed upper mounts were solid but for the small amount of extra weight and work it is a lot stronger. Also we needed a place to mount the reservoirs.

It is bolt-on, but it is for 2007+ Silverados and pretty much every LT kit you buy, you'll need to buy shocks.

That stubby McPherson-ish strut is kinda great for a custom-built chevelle chassis, and I don't thing a steering rack-and-pinion is ideal for use even in a light-duty full-size truck like your silverado

I have a few questions , first , why did you not protect the shock while welding ? All it takes is one piece of slag to stick to the threads and the shock is no longer adjustable . Also If I spent the 1500$ for coilovers and the finnish was ruined by weld splatter I would be furious ... Second , did you torque the suspension bolts ? I work in a 4x4 fab shop and I am ASE certified , running the suspension bolts on with an impact is a big No NO ... Due to the fact it can over torque the bolts, strip the threads off the bolts and distort the nuts . I do enjoy the videos and the work you do , this was just something that made me question the build ..

@T_L_
@T_L_ 7 жыл бұрын
Louis de Lange fabtech made a kit a long time ago. I had one on a 91 Chevy. They were good but weren't true long travel kits. You would really need to go to a fab shop and have one custom made for a '88-98 Chevy. The reason why they don't make many kits for them is because it's really not an ideal platform to begin with.
@T_L_
@T_L_ 7 жыл бұрын
I feel like an idiot after having replied, this particular company, LSK, does in fact have a lot for an '88-98 Chevy. It's actually a rather good kit, with a price tag to match. $4500.
