Silverback Dares to Confront Provocative Son｜Shabani Group

In the morning, Shabani and the others came out of the basement looking the same as usual.

After breakfast, Shabani and AI snuggled up close together.
Ai leaves Shabani's place and Shabani moves to where Nene and Kiyomasa are
From this point on, it seemed to me that Shabani was intimidating Kiyomasa.
Later, Kiyomasa came to Shabani's place, but Shabani never played with Kiyomasa.

Shabani becomes blatantly intimidating to Kiyomasa.
Shabani chased Kiyomasa around as he approached, and it felt like he was trying to keep him away from the female.
When the door to lunch opened, Kiyomasa was usually the first to enter, but Shabani would have none of it

Lunch begins.
All gorillas fed as usual, no gorilla had no appetite.
After lunch, Kiyomasa becomes provocative toward Shabani.
That behavior went on for a long time.
The female gorillas that usually follow Kiyomasa never approached him.

Female gorillas gathered around Shabani, and Kiyomasa was isolated.
Shabani was often near Ai.
Back indoors, when Kiyomasa tried to approach the AI, Shabani shooed Kiyomasa away.
Then all the gorillas took a break for a while and went back to the basement.

I really love Kyo very much, he is a very charming gorilla, very expressive and even affectionate. But Shabani sometimes just gets tired of females going after him and that's normal, he's the boss and deserves respect. He was also excited about his chance to mate with Ai. Kyo deserves to have a family of his own soon. And Shabani deserves a young female who respects him and gives him more offspring.

Looks like Shabani has taken his power back. It's good that they work it out & move on. Shabani was letting his son know he's still the man. Tread carefully Kiyo & don't get too cocky. Nene as usual was right there ready to pounce on Shabani if he hurt's her precious boy.🤕

Some Silverbacks are ALWAYS like this, such as Momo with Gentaro; won't let him relax or be nearby at all times. It's ok for Shabani to show his alpha qualities - they are lucky that 95% of the time he is laid back and playful, just a nice guy lol

This has nothing to do with the silverbacks. They are just doing what they are supposed to. This problem is because of the zoo's leaving the young males in the family group for too long. Gentaro should have been separated a long time ago, along with kyomasa. This is because of poor planning.

Kiomassa and Gentaro have no nowhere to explore , No futures of becoming Sliver backs in their own right. Gentaro is the age Momotaro was when he sired Gentaro. . @@frenchieslade6530 gentaro is actually older. Momo sired gentaro at 10 years old. But you are right. The sad thing is they didn't plan for any of these young gorillas in Japan. You have 2 more in haoko's group, and none of them have anywhere to go. I don't see any point in any of the females having any more babies.

Shabani at 1:37 at the tower with Ai and her usual flirtatious nail picking self and shabani trying to encourage her to no avail. Ai then tried to placate him and he pushed her away. Never saw him respond that way but who can blame him? He loves her so much. Another terrific video JZ so many moving parts. Many thanks.

​Ai has no control. The chimpanzees at the zoo have had children without problems and now a new female has arrived. Ai has nothing with Shabani because she doesn't want to, that's how it is.

@@justpiddlin1470 Yes, I would assume all the females are, as Kiyo has made his mark with all of them. I think it has to be frustrating to be a male gorilla and no females of his own to mate with. They (the Zoo's) did not plan well here for the male's futures when they reach maturity. Too many males and too many interrelations with all these Japan gorillas. I saw one of Rikki's sisters mount him the other day from Haoko's troop,,,,she initiated it...and he's only 6. So it is NOT a mental instability as a notorious poster cries about constantly, it's influenced by gorilla behaviour-not doubt captivity place a role too.

@@famouslegend3649 I’ve seen a male gorilla mate with a female who was still nursing an infant; not only was she not receptive, she wasn’t even fertile. The Alpha Male will mate with a female he wants to whether she’s interested or not. THAT is the reality of it. True, Shabani seems to be an especially docile gorilla - but we don’t know WHAT medication the veterinarian may be using to keep the males calm and amicable. Female gorillas tend to reproduce about every 4 years. Ai and Shabani are well overdue - and there is likely a very good reason for it. And it isn’t because Kiyomasa is interfering or because they’re embarrassed to mate with humans observing: Gorilla mating happens very quickly - it takes about 5 seconds.

I’m surprised that for as popular as Shabani is, the zoo hasn’t installed a video feed (as many of the Panda Houses around the world have). I’d love to see their sleeping arrangements - as I understand it, in the wild the Alpha Male has something of a nest. Does the zoo provide them with padded wooden boxes - or even molded plastic? Maybe they’re made out of that tough, semi-firm foam that public seating is. I’ve seen the gorillas play with lengths of burlap - could they have a pile of those downstairs for nesting? Or is it just a series of those mesh hammocks we see in the large recreation room? Inquiring minds want to know! Whatever their sleeping arrangements are, I have a feeling it entails a wire screen through which staff can safely give the gorillas whatever injections they may need so they can easily be examined and provided with medical treatment. Maybe they have separate “rooms” - one for Shabani & one for the others - possibly separated by plexiglass-glass, a metal half-wall, or steel bars.

Exactly. From his perspective he has no choice but to challenge the silverback in a chance to mate with the females The zoo is clearly not addressing his basic needs here, he is now fully able to lead his own family but that needs to happen in a different enclosure. He is going to HUGE soon enough and keeping 2 males in the same space will lead to a constant struggle for dominance and both will end up injured once things turn physical

It’s kind of about time Shabani has been very lax in his silverback authority and they were walking all over him. He’s a sweetie but Junior needs to be reigned in like going first through the door an all the others except Nene go in first which Momo does not allow. Junior is very immature for his age lol an overgrown sweet heart but he’s rambunctious and it’s time for him to be taught some lessons concerning the females

i think , if im correct lol . because i watch different channels of Shabanis Troop That Shabanis in heat and any time he tries or seems to be getting somewhere with the girls Kiyomasa enters the chat and the girls are thrown off , they move away from him . we dont know what goes on in the basement if they get to mate but i think Shabani needs some Gorilla time with AI or Nene and it hasnt went smoothly as it should . just my opinion . could be showing the girls that hes the alpha and who should be mated with since he dont push the girls to much into those activities but kiyomasa stay applying pressure lol

I know that Nene is referred to as grandma Nene but I just wondered, does anyone know her age? You can tell she’s at the bottom of the pecking order, poor sweetie. She’s so gentle and precious. When I was there last Saturday and Sunday definitely Shabani was more assertive and never let Kiyo near the girls taking steps even before Kiyo tried anything. Another thing I believe because Shabani was proactive the girls all stayed next to him even Nene didn’t try to defend Kiyo at all. Nene is so very cute but very small in stature almost like a kid and if someone steals her food she moves to another pile of food since it’s very abundant. Annie is so beautiful and very coordinated and energetic but thin but she was eating like a champ. Ai was very close to Shabani and personally Shabani is very big with a beautiful fur , a little more darker than at videos and pictures and he has a massive head with a sweet face. When I was there I saw a gentleman filming and he gave me a little picture of Shabani but I was so out that I didn’t ask him if he was the videographer. If you are him and this is your Chanel, thanks again and sorry we didn’t get to talk because my mind deserted me. Finally I got a beautiful Shabani shirt too.

Gorgeous Shabani is trying hard to win over Ai. She continues to play hard to get. Nene is always looking to protect her son. Her son to learn to play nice king Shabani. Shabani is the leader of this troop. Also, I am just realizing Kiyomasa is not Shabani's son. He's Nene's son from Silverback Rikki.

Kiyo is a chicken… hiding behind his momma for protection. Kiyo reminds me of bullies I grew up with! There comes a time when enough is enough and then action begins. Kiyo isn’t a favorite of mine, as you can tell. I hope they move him soon.

These are captive gorillas. In the wild Kiyo would move on and start a family of his own since he is already a mature male. Here he has no choice but to fight the much bigger silverback in charge The zoo is at fault here, not the animals
