Annie very clearly got the message when Shabani came to fetch her. He is such a good caretaker of his family! I loved how the chimpanzees started yelling when Shabani drummed his chest outside, letting Annie know he meant business. ❤

My zoo in Omaha ,Nebraska. The Henry Doorly Zoo was just nominated as best zoo for the second year in a row. I'm so proud, but wish all my favorite troops abroad had it as good. I wish they would send our officials to teach others to do better. Especially with enrichment , nutrition and dental care.

That is very true but you need to take into consideration Shabani and Momo had two totally different upbringings and family situations while growing up. You might already know that. : ) Shabani grew up with other gorillas(siblings, mom and dad) while Momo was all alone after Haoko came to the zoo to partner with Momoko and he only ever had his mother. I do think Momo is a great partner for Genki as she has her own problems. I love all the families but wish Japan would fix the problems involved with managing gorillas to give them the best life both emotionally and environmentally.

I am very worried about Shabani and Kiyo. Nothing is either of the gorillas fault, it's the zoos. It's natural for both of them to be doing what they are doing but Shabani can still hurt/kill Kiyo and Kiyo can certainly hurt Shabani and either of those is terrible and the zoo needs to do something about it. Since we have been talking about separating these adult children as well as the adult females from the other zoos and nothing has been done, I am thinking the zoo has no idea what to do since they have no alliances with any other countries for trading except for Taiwan, which is no place to be trading any gorillas. Something will eventually happen and it will be a sad day and Japan will announce another lie like when Momotaros father Biju was killed and they tried to cover it up saying it was a heart attack and not the real cause of asphixiation(sp) and the autopsy results were eventually changed to state the truth. It is incredibly sad and disgusting. No country as of this year, will trade with them and they will not let them leave to another country so they can enjoy a happy life in another country, I have done the research on all of this so if anyone reading this thinks I am just talking look it up yourself if you care. But it is very very sad. I wish I was in a position to make a difference for them and not just providing information.

I have known for over 2 years no one will trade with Japan but I didn’t know the truth about my Momotaro’s dad. If you don’t have the link could you tell me how to type it in so it doesn’t take me 2 months to find the information, I’m not that good still with that type of stuff and my husband granddaughter won’t be around for a month or two she’s in college. Yes they love to cover up deaths with heart attacks because they are prone to having them but not when they are young and healthy.Too many adult males seem to be dying a lot,I haven't heard of many females dying,so I wouldn't believe anything anyone said from Japan ever.They are quite happy to treat animals poorly and it shows and the thing with that is it spreads through ppl like us who care. @@dreamcatcherjulie1

She passed away into chilling away off camera. She stays out of their way when they play.

Nene's health became quite bad which upset the troop and some of them were bullying her. She was separated and has been getting special food and rest. She is in a separate area in the basement.

They look so bored. I've been watching this for awhile and it's always same old toys,same rope in same places,o bet any one of them could go thru those ropes etc blindfolded. Can the zoo not afford to give them some new things to play with? Bi Jiao think it's sad enough being in a cage, but also a cage where nothing ever chasms like it would if they were free....
