When I saw/heard them perform Emotion Sickness live in Sydney before this show I nearly fell over. (Didn’t expect this and Anna’s Song) after listening to their first 2 albums. Just imagine expecting them to play Slave (which I love but not on this level) but instead they opened with Emotion Sickness and then Anna’s Song. I think Slave was next.

I’m so glad to have these performances; I may quite literally cease to exist without them. But if we’re being honest, Dan didn’t need to be on any stage performing anything during this time. This tour was incredibly difficult on him.

How can you not get an enormous gulp in your throat watching this performance. He's pin thin, cheekbones that could cut through glass-the jaw tic that he seamlessly performed with- Had Daniel not been courageous with going public about the anorexia-I suppose his appearance and mannerisms if at all commented on would have been chalked up to drug dabbling-I mean,David Bowie seemingly embraced anorexia in his ziggy stardust days-(before the name anorexia even existed) As a former sufferer-I can say it's appeal isn't understood by many-but there is a sort of euphoria in the midst of the disease. That's why it's so deadly. Yes-I'm elated to see him in performances where he is clearly healthier and robust. But this heartbreaking one is so emotional and connecting. Brilliant brilliant soul.

As the other person stated, this was over twenty years ago, but he had also opened up about his anxiety problems in the early 2000's after the release of Diorama. It's not a new out of the blue cry for attention, these things can progress worse over the years. Just because someone has a disorder, doesn't mean they can't perform well. Most of the suffering is invisible, and it's the thoughts and ruminations that go on internally that create turmoil and discomfort. He killed it on stage in this era, while also battling with Anorexia and Depression. Though for obvious reasons it is visible he was suffering an ED, he performed magnificently, nonetheless.

In a way...yes. Faraway Stables is one of their best shows...that was when the band was at their apex, imo. But...while that performance of this song was technically the best in musical terms....this performance is so much more raw and well...emotional. It's the sort of song that really has to be performed from a brutally honest place for it to work. Dan was clearly raw and wounded at this time in his life...and the music echos that.

MsYogaGrrrl true people change-but it not that he is growing older-it's thar his persona is polar opposite from his youth. (Honestly,he's still a young man-so maybe it's a phase) Along with being a prodigal genius -it was the humble, soft spoken and otherworldly beauty that made him so mesmerizing. His songs were clearly autobiographical-and also connected him to fans on a spiritual level. He was pure and honest. So now he wants to desecrate that image? Trying to sing a sex song while trying to look sexy by writhing around all grease up in a sandstorm? He brings to mind that awful one hit wonder Robin Thicke. That's not a compliment. It's a disappointment. The handful of interviews I've seen of him recently were awkward to watch. He was adamant that he's the happiest he's.ever been. But there's a lost look in his eyes. Could be depression creeping up again, untreated-or worse self medicated. Of course I'm just a faceless commenter speculating about someone I feel that I know-but of course I don't. Be well Daniel. Your gift was to expose your vulnerability through art and made so many people happy.

2:32 to 3:17 - Pure GOOSEBUMPS! It still blows my mind that Johns came up with such amazing music at only 19 years of age. Frogstomp and Freakshow were good. But Neon Ballroom is where Silverchair truly blossomed and defined a unique style of their own. After Diorama it's definitely their best album! They'll always be my favourite band!

+Nick Busch He had already gone through puberty by then. That and he had anorexia problems around the time of Neon Ballroom that he had since gotten over.

He’s hot as fuck like this era. You ever see the video for Ana’s Song? Literally the most beautiful man I’ve ever seen. He got weird after the age of 21, and now he’s unrecognizable.

@@PollyGammy It's not normal to be attracted to a starved and malnourished body. He was always attractive, still is great for his age, but calling his anorexic state--where he had come close to death--his most attractive, is incredibly off. I hope you recognise that.

@GGiblet Thank you, love :) It is sooo good to know that there are compassionate, intelligent people like yourself out there! The ones who recognise the truth amidst all the rubbish! You are lovely and I'd like you to know that Dan really was/is the way you imagine him to be
