Silverchair perform an awesome rendition of "Emotion Sickness" at the Launch Party for their new album "Young Modern" thanks to narc85 who i got the video of this show from!

Johns playing was impressive, very dark sense of melody to his riffing. I liked where he took the song, I've always considered it one of their better pieces. It flows well yet has very distinct sections and a great dynamic. Johns never gets the credit he deserves, amazing writer too.

Still one of my favourite songs all these years later. This performance is magical, like Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, and Led Zeppelin had a baby.

I really like what Paul Mac is playing during Dan's solo from 2:28 - 2:58. It sounds like he's just slapping the keys at the low end of the piano. Sounds so cool.

I'm just happy he's not semi-suicidal anymore. The songs he composed ten years ago are still evolving with each performance, which I believe is a good thing.

@Yeaahright - true, and it's all made him who he is today. therefore it's a modern version of the song. i completely agree with you about dan's guitar skills, and the guy is way musically gifted; his talent isn't something you can just learn. his ability to express his emotions through music never ceases to amaze me, and is the main reason i love his music so much. *he* is amazing.

wow! very shocked. i didn't think they actually could perform ES better than they had in the past. i was...wrong. what an amazing band.

they rocked it. i respect how he leaves out the 'get up' part because obviously the song is very emotional and means a lot to him, yet he isn't in the same place he was when he wrote the it. and that part was full of pain... and would probably be painful to sing. kind of like how he does ana's song differently. it's understandable and the songs are still just as good.

Think in their place man,it's impossible to sing negative songs a whole liftime, if you aren't sad anymore and if you like silverchair,you just have to accept it man you never know what their next album may be,look at the foo fighters do you want them to be like those kids from Tokio Hotel? these songs have a meaning,a different emotion,a different story,but always so poetic.Just learn to enjoy their music,the sound of his voice,his guitar,the lyric,the bass,the drum.You have to feel it man!

Me, too.. I was patiently waiting for it, then he didn't do it :( I really hope he gets his voice back (like on the "Take the world upon your shoulders and burn, burn, burn, burn, burn, burn or Like I found a four leaf clover part in The Lever) He is still an amazing vocalist, but damn it I miss that grrrrr he used to have.

@ blue-eyed-butterfly. The crowed doesn't suck it's him. It's his job to get the crowd pumping, he simply can't perform his old songs with the same feeling as he used to. Lol I don't care how many times he gets down there to twiddle with the nobs during the climax, no one ever says get up. Maybe he should say it like twice the let the crowd take over.
@ms.lisamurphy2697 жыл бұрын
Good Lord- these comments were made when Daniel was the ripe old age of 30!!!! Y'all talk as if he is ready for the old folks home and using a cane! There is a tangible element missing however-can't put my finger on it -maybe it was the fact that he seemed okay with being vulnerable and just laying in all out there. You didn't have to decipher his lyrics/songs-no silly metaphors about fish (Nirvana )
@lollies9114 жыл бұрын
This was an Album launch so the crowd is littered with media, record label people, competition winners and other randoms, which might explain the non rocking crowd. Awesome performance though, it's right up there as one of my favourites.

@wtfitsdaveyj a) that's the best thing about being a musician. it's his music and he can do whatever he pleases with it. the people who are paying to see them accept that it is an art form. it's not like they work at a grocery store. b) why do it? for the fans, and because it showcases their talent as a band. the song itself has evolved throughout the years with the band and has become one hell of a crowd pleaser if you ask me. oh and what's wrong with that? i thought they were getting paid to.
@erving2515 жыл бұрын
@blueeyedbutterfly no the part where people should scream is the climatic get up part. it's not only that he doesn't feel the same but more of the fact that alot of fans need to come to the realization that he simply can't do the snarls, low pitched vocals anymore he tries to but it often comes off as nasally i've been studying his vocals for about 3 years now. there's no hint of the old johns in there. even when he does the new songs he sounds so tired. but hopefully he can get back into shape
