Becuase that music appealed to young people at that time, and I was one of them. I love Silverchair's old stuff. However, anyone with a decent appreciation for music understands how much better their new music is. Album sales have nothing to do with music quality, I thought someone with a good opinion would realise that, but obviously you don't. Take the time to sit down and listen to the amazing songwriting of Diorama and Young Modern. If you can't, I guess you're just deficient.

@thenhobes5 жыл бұрын
My theory is that his voice matured (got deeper) between Frogstomp/Freakshow and Neon Ballroom. You can hear it in interviews, he has more bass in his natural vocal timbre. Hence he might have been unable to sing it the same way and/or scream like when he was younger. I think this is the reason they stopped playing songs from that era and he instead improvised with all these theatrical and over the top vocal performances, because he literally couldn't do it justice sonically anymore.
@avedic12 жыл бұрын

Except for a couple of good songs, Frogstomp fucking sucks now! Listen to it as an adult... The lyrics are terrible and the music sounds like a Seattle band that were barely able to get a record deal. Freak Show is awesome, Neon Ballroom is ambitious but cheesy, and then Diorama is just one of the greatest musical achievements of any band ever... They really should have broken up before they made Young Modern but whatever, they're Silverchair and they can do what they like. Seriously, though... Frogstomp?
