He did not explain what is different about these Restricted keys, or did I miss it? Can ANY regular house key be taken to a locksmith to have a duplicate Restricted key made? None of this was clear in the video.

1. Regular keys can be duplicated by anyone, just like your standard house keys. 2. Do not duplicate keys; most of these are regular keys with a DND stamp. Anyone can copy them. People use them because they want cheap locks and hope the tenant comes to the landlord for expensive copies. 3. Restricted Keys: Keys that go to low-security locks that can only be duplicated by the locksmith who set up the system. They have blanks that only that specific locksmith has; no random locksmith or hardware store can duplicate it. These are slightly harder to pick, but not by much. They might have security pins. Sometimes these can also have a DND stamp on the key. 4. High-security keys are similar to restricted keys, with the added benefit that they are harder to pick and drill. These can have security pins, ss pins, pins at angles, sidebars, and much more. Sometimes these can also have a DND stamp on the key. Restricted keys are the best if you only want to prevent unwanted key copies. High security keys are great for copy protection and physical attack protection, but are much more expensive. Yes, you can take a regular key to a locksmith and have it copied on a DND key blank. Nothing is stopping someone from getting it copied.

@@ahmadaamer6 It will be illegal for Locksmith to duplicate the restricted key

@@MilaShwarz-kw1yo A company that provides restricted keys to a locksmith gives them specific key blanks. Other locksmiths will not have that blank. Only the locksmith you bought it from can order those blanks and provide cut keys. If you had a blank, another locksmith would likely not cut it. Having a blank is very hard because no one will give it to you. The locksmith that sold you the system will only provide cut keys. It’s not illegal for another locksmith to cut restricted keys. It’s just very hard. The blanks are controlled by the company who makes the system and the contract the locksmith signed. Kaba Peaks, Corbin Russwin Access 3, and Schlage Primus are examples of restricted keys systems.

Too bad the employee has the key and unlimited time to make a copy with one of those 3D printers. Regardless if its restricted or not.

3D printers cost more than just paying for an extra key.

You didn't explain the difference except that one can be duplicated and one can't. Everyone wants to know WHY the restricted key cannot be duplicated. What exactly makes it special so the machines cannot copy them?
@S.E.Locksmith5 ай бұрын
Restricted keys are unique due to their specific keyway design, which limits access to a single locksmith company authorized by the lock and key manufacturer. These keys cannot be duplicated by anyone else, ensuring exclusivity. Only the authorized locksmith can provide key copies, and requests for additional keys must be made by an authorized person within the company or business. Implementing a restricted key system in a business necessitates replacing existing locks or cylinders with restricted ones.
