Thanks Barry you got me through my P1X build perfectly! Lots of extra bolts to mount things later. I was a bit worried about the size but it is a lot smaller than I thought. I can recommend adding the "Sim-Lab Sim Floor" as it adds some more rigidity and I find it easier to get out for some reason as well. I just added one to my P1 as well because the Podium DD2 it'd powersupply brick has an fan in it. So I added the plate to prevent dust and dirt get in the power brick and moved cables and powerbricks as much as possible out of view. Mind I also bought a Brenenstuhl 19" rack mount powerstrip, which I then bolted onto the aluminium. Together with a quality USB3 hub. So I only have 3 cables coming from the rig... 1 power, 1 USB and 1 VR headset cable.

@@DavidGarcia-oi5nt I'm loving it! I've really only had one minor problem and that's the caster wheels that Sim Lab sold. The metal to set/unset the brake is a cheap aluminum and the brake levers bent to the point of not working any more. The casters still role but the brakes don't work. Outside of that small issue, the rig has been awesome. Easy to mount anything on and no flex with my DD1 and V3 Brake pedals. It's a lot of setup work to get it running but after it's all mounted up it's fantastic.
@briang6168 Жыл бұрын
Wish I had seen this before I started my first rig. Found the exact same issue with the wheel mounting. Bolts too short and then if adjusting can come out off the nutt. Have to remove integrated monitor stand now to retry and also leads to scratching of the profile. So great informative video. In general think it would be handy to have extra nutts and wing bolts, probably they should provide extras at purchase. These things aren't cheap.

Again a very good review! The price point of that rig is INSANE! If you order the parts (replacing that frontal bracket with 80/20 parts) from any industrial supplier you‘ll pay about 350$. And you’ll have them at your home within a week. Naturally they have to make a profit, but anything more than 500$ is outrageous. The margin Sim Lab takes on all the stuff they offer is just shameless.

I just thought of something: wouldn't it be cool if there was a rotating tray with (say) 3 sets of screw holes in a Dorito pattern, for attaching 3 different gear shifters and rotating the tray to choose the shifter you want every single time? I mean, cars have different sorts of transmissions (manuals, automatics, sequentials), so there could be 3 different gear shifters (a manual one, an automatic one and a sequential one) attached to one rotating tray. The tray could be rotating and when the desired gear shifter is selected, it could selectively be locked/unlocked to/from the right longitudinal members by a special key switch working a mechanism preventing it from doing unwanted rotation - this is for stability reasons! Woudn't this enhance immersion?

So I have an Obutto Ozone cockpit and upgraded from a ClubSport to a Podium DD base. I thought the steel tube frame was totally fine, till I cranked feedback to 100 and almost broke the rig. Question: Can I use this Sim Lab P1-X with that full motion simulator (Pro Simu T1000 5M - I think) you have pictured right next to this? Eventually that's the full motion I'd like to get, unless you can recommend something better. If I can invest in a better cockpit now, and keep it for the future, I'd be more likely to go for it.
