Great review and song for a great little unit! Simmons seem to have squeezed about the most out of one short clap sample with this machine, apart from dynamics...

Right? It does do a lot with very little. It can get more dynamics than I showed if you use an appropriate trigger. I didn't feel like going through the effort to hook this up to my Simmons MTM, but that could apply velocity sensitivity to the Clap Trap. It only affects the VCA, as far as I can tell, though.

does this thing use eproms?

It does use a PROM, but I forget which one. I don't believe this uses the same EPROMs as in other Simmons gear, though. I could be wrong!
