I'm only new to your channel, I was looking for plant base meal ideas. Quick story, mum of 6, 4 still at home, working full time and only recently had some serious health issues diagnosed. Yes I'm a large lady and have always eaten pretty healthy but you know the extra wine, the cheese and biscuits on weekends can add up and no amount of excise helps you. I started my new journey in January of 2022 with only eating Raw Foods for about a month, then I did crave something cooked so now I'm a strict plant base/vegan eater. My kids still eat meat and drink milk and yes I still cook those meals for them lol, but I don't seem to notice the smells and they don't make me crave meat (I haven't eaten red meat in years and only drink almond milk) Since my journey begun I've lost 11 kilos and with the help of your channel I have been able to eat so many filling and amazing recipes. I tried the air fried puff tofu the other night and it was so good. I try and avoid processed plant based foods where I can and if I can't, they are used only when I need to. Love the dressings and sauces you make and I think they bring so much flavor to the meals. Anyways just wanted to say thank you for your channel coming into my life, you have helped me more then you could possibly know lol. Saying hi from down under.

I have never liked capsicum (bell peppers), they are overpowering and ruined any dish I had them in. So whenever I dined out I would ask for no capsicum please. But I see so many recipes using them now I'm vegan, I really need to try them again 🙈 I'm thinking a sauce like this might be awesome to try. (And I know it won't go to waste as my husband eats basically anything 😆). Will have to check when they're in season here as I've never looked at buying them before 🤔

I've been vegan for 2 months and enjoying every second of it! My life improved in so many ways, I find it unbelievable that I didn't start sooner. Had my first dinner out with friends last night, although I didn't tell any of them I'm vegan yet, because I'm scared they might not take me seriously or that they'll think I'm only doing it to lose weight. I was afraid I'd give in to the roasted meat (which I used to love) but the smell of it actually nauseated me! Now I'm 100% sure I want to keep pursuing this lifestyle. I'll turn 30 in a few days and I'm so excited to enter my thirties as a vegan! You were the first vegan youtubers I subscribed to and I'll always be fond of you guys, you're wonderful together. You give me so much inspiration, information, courage and joy. Thank you for all that you do ❤️

Hay man, congratulations on your new life style. Telling your friends that your vegan now, is scary. But don't let that stop you from improving your health. My advice to you is to educate yourself a little more in nutrition ( read or listen to you tube videos of Dr. McDougall, Dr. Greger, chef A J is awesome, Codwell and Rip Esselstyn). Another thing is the Confident when you talk to them ( you fell good, you have lost weight, it's your health insurance, you care for animals, state facts). I think Derek has a video on telling friends and family. You can do this. I hope this helps and stay plant strong!🥦 💪

Spot on in your comment on "complete protein" - a notion that Frances Moore Lappé has said she wishes she'd never mentioned. Just to emphasize my agreement with a statement you already made: if you eat a good variety of whole plant-based foods and you get enough calories, you'll get enough protein. BTW, I've been making some of the sauces in your videos, and they are terrific. My favorite is the spicy avocado-lime-cilantro mix: dynamite!

I love that you throw in a few packaged foods in your full day of eating videos! I avoid processed or pre-made foods as much as I can. But I still eat SOMETHING of the sort every two or three days. it saves a lot of time, or is nice when I’m too hungry for patience, and it especially allows me to try new things without blindly investing in all of the ingredients to make it.

Hi there! I am a new subscriber and I love your channel! I started watching you a few weeks ago and have been binge watching your videos. I am not a vegan but you show me more and more that I can do it. I love fruits, vegetables and whole grains and have cut down gradually on animal products and believe that I can adopt the vegan lifestyle. Your creativity and energy along with your physical form prove that I can safely and effectively become vegan. To be frank, the most challenging thing about doing it for me is giving up dairy. I recently ordered some brewers yeast and haven't had the courage to try it! Please do another video on replacing cheese, yogurt and milk products.

I just found your channel and it looks awesome. I've been wfpb for almost 15 years... Or I should say I was. When covid got us stuck at home 2 years ago, I started eating all sorts of processed crap. I used to run 5 miles everyday and I stopped running. I gained almost 50 pounds and ended up on statin for high triglycerides. Needless to say I went back on wfpb, got off statin and now I'm trying to get back into shape. Seeing people like you is really an incentive to get off the couch.

Derek, is it true that a high carb diet causes water retention? I have been in bits for months now suffering with water retention bloating and occasional heartburn. When I don't eat for a couple of hours my stomach starts to cramp up so bad and swell so big I look pregnant. I watched a video from this 'meat only' doctor and I knew it was all bullshit, but he said that carbs are the source of bloating and I couldn't help but think 'maybe?' that's why I am asking. Please help !

Hey Derek, I like you and blah blah but since you are taking on some of the nutrition critique posted under your videos, you might take this one next. Vitamin A: You aren't getting any. Vitamin A is Retinol, and is only found in animal foods. You are getting Beta Carotin, so you are relying on your bodily functions to be converted into Vitamin A. What Chronometer tells you is the Vitamin A equivalent from your foods, not the actual Vitamin A. Omega 3: There are different types of Omega 3. There is alpha-linoleic acid, (ALA) eicosapentaenoic acid, (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid. (DHA) You are only getting ALA. That's the inactive form that has to be converted in your body to the bioactive forms like EPA and DHA. The problem is - the conversion rates are bad. Pretty bad. Based on your gender and ancestry, it could be as bad as 1% which means you have to get a hundred grams of ALA to receive 1g of EPA or DHA. Beyond that, plant fats, especially in nuts and seeds aren't that bioavailable either. I thought that has to be said since you are pointing out the importance of Omega 3 everytime you are putting the flax seeds into your smoothies. That's ain't gonna cut it.

Most KZbin vlogs are boring. But, this one was not! Far from it! There was delicious vegan food, time outdoors, fitness, cats, and manual transmission driving! Basically, lots of things that I love, all in one video! The only thing that would have taken it over the top would have been the motorcycle! ❤

My brain whenever I see Derek's car in a video... "Do they drive on the other side of the road in Canada?" "Wait... no, I've been through Ontario and Quebec a bunch, that's not right" "Maybe they drive on the other side in Vancouver?" "Oh yea, it's an import!"

Derek another absolutely fantastic video! Tks for calling out to your following that Vivo Life is now available in Canada! I am so happy. Please make some videos on lower calorie/higher protein deserts meals (maybe even some incorporating Vivo's protein powder). I make vegan protein muffins but I am sure you would make them much tastier!!

Great video, as always! I was wondering how much you spend on food per week or month, on average? I was asking that because if I went to grocery shopping here in Finland and buy the ingredients you used in this video (that varied, that colourful & full of nutrients), I'd have to pay about 40 bucks if not more. Strange and sad thing is that I could eat fast food for a day for 15 dollars. Thanks in advance!

I was Vegan for over 2 years, but stopped it. I simply didn't feel the "magic" of it, as much as I thought I would, I feel better going away from being a Vegan and eat more like a "flexitarian" if I have to put a label on it. But that really is different from person to person and I still e.g. do not drink milk & mostly stay away from prodcuts that has milk/cream in it etc. And other Vegan products I still do and sometimes also still have full plant-based meals, but for me personally being 100% plant-based just didn't work out in the long run. Still love your channel though & use it for inspiration :)

Bro, Derek, can you do a video on meals for 5$ a day. I'm really struggling. I've been making veggie sushi rolls. And just been roasting veggies and eating it with rice. And making blueberry smoothies and I'll have an apple or orange with almonds sometimes. That's about it.

Derek, I would really like to know why you think some people have such bad digestive issues going vegan. If it was the optimal lifestyle for everyone, wouldn't people only get better on it? No hate, just really trying to figure out what went wrong with me.. You still seem to be THRIVING. Please help. 3+ years of veganism down the drain. PS: I've been watching your content for 5+ years. Wish you all the love in the world and I really hope to understand one day.

Getting the Italian vibes today- but it’s cannellini- read it- ca-ne-lli-ni. 😊 That San Pellegrino drink though is amazing- tried it yesterday- and the tahini dressing is the best- and the roasted pepper sauce- super delicious. Thanks so much. Also, your kitties are mega cute. Especially with the lead on. We tried to do that with our kitten last year and he went ballistic!!! 😂 Poor Guy. Now he’s an indoor cat and that’s it- do feel sorry for him though sometimes, when he looks out the window! Have a great day. 😊
