I thought Tuchels comments so far have been very revealing. He's taken the job for one reason and with one (pretty short term) objective: To win the world cup. Not to develop English talent, not to act as the face of English football in the media, not to be the centre of the England coaching set-up across all the age ranges. It's quite different to the role Southgate was playing, and it's a testament to the work he and his team did that Tuchel will not need to focus on that stuff. I expect Tuchel to make ruthless, short term decisions to deliver that and not to care too much if there's any collateral damage.

Thuchel is a product of the globalised football world epitomised by the Premier League where we get the best players and managers from all over the world to come and work here Tuchel included. I reckon it will soon be possible for players to move countries like they do in cricket Thus Jofra Archer, following his mentor Chris Jordan, a Barbadian by birth and nationality now plays for England. FIFA already has a 5 year residency rule for players who didn't represent their country of birth at senior level. I bet that today Mikel Arteta's request to play for England would have been met not rejected.

Simion Jordan can't have it both ways. He said a few days ago that he wants a winner and he wants the best in class.
