I like Abramovich a lot. He has class and he has style and he has spent his own dime to foot the bill in order for them to rise up to being one of the top clubs in Europe. Chelsea isn't a club, its a family. That said, Abramovich gained his fortune under very odd conditions. In 1986 he was a minor black market goods salesman. Nothing wrong with that to be honest, he did his best under the government he lived under. Cut to 1992 he meets his business partner on a yacht. Business partner has a good idea about vertical integration of the energy market in Russia and needs both capital and a face for the company. How much he needed is anybody's guess but it had to be in the millions. How does a guy selling toys in Russia come up with millions of dollars to put this plan in effect. Essentially most of his goods were novelty items he sold through his apartment. The numbers dont add up. Then cut to 1996, Yelsin needs financial backing in a close election to remain as the President of Russia. His opponent was camaigning on cleaning house in Russia which most certainly meant the financial corruption in Russia's sale of their resources to some pretty unscrupulous people. On that list was Abramovich and his partner. Abramovich's company financially supports Yelsin and in turn he wins. Yelsin then basically gifts his company the sale of a major section of Russia's energy sector. The overall value of this sector has been said to have been between 3 to 7 billion depending upon who you ask. Abramovich and his partner paid 100 million dollars. The sale is rushed through in a 48 hour period. The funny thing was that all of Abramovich's company's assets were at around 25-30 million at the time. Again, where did the rest of the money come from? There was no loans taken out to purchase it. Yelsin's government basically told them this is the price and a company worth 1/4 of it somehow came up with monies 3 times more than it was worth in total. Later, Yelsin's health fails and he hand picks his successor, a little known deputy mayor and former KGB agent named Putin to run the nation. Putin claims that he is "going to clean up the corruption in Russia". One of the first places he looks is at Abramovich and Co. For whatever reason Putin decides to arrest and bankrupt Abramovich's partner, the financial guy whose plan had made his company billions. What Putin does not do is imprison and seize Abramovich's assets. In fact he and Putin become very good friends. Abramovich seizes total control of his company. With no partner to share in the vast wealth of his company his net worth makes him one of the wealthiest men on the planet Abramovich's partner sues him but to no avail. A few years later he is found dead under suspicious circumstances. So there you have it. A guy who was selling rubber ducks out of his apartment somehow 1) finds a few million dollars to fund a new venture 2) finds 10s of million dollars more to further expand and 3) becomes insanely wealthy by becoming good friends with a leader who is solely responsible for his nation's invasion of a sovereign country.

Do you honestly think anyone who becomes super rich is a "nice guy" people get rich from exploiting workers and accepting dubious funds from investors. The only true clean money is earned by working class people who will never have enough money to fund multi million projects. Picking and choosing who you think is corrupt is irrelevant. Business and the corporate environment is a disgusting atmosphere which is all about exploitation and mistreating people. The word invasion is not applicable here as Russia is not trying to conquer Ukraine and claim the country as their own, if you follow what is going on they are attacking military bases and bio weapons labs. My summary of the situation is Russia is taking out a problem for their own security reasons, do I agree with it No!!! The story is not what the media portrays it that Ukraine was minding its own business with nothing going on and Russia was like hey let's go and "invade" Ukraine. This type of thing has happened before with Western Governments, just think back 20 years to the War in Iraq and the damage it caused. All that situation was based on Lies from Western governments. I don't put any stock in what the government says, in my opinion they are always the enemy of the people. Don't believe their lies.

If you impose sanctions then you have to do it properly. You can’t just say ‘he’s sanctioned’ but leave his billion pound football club alone because it ‘disproportionately’ hits Chelsea’s football fans.
