Very much appreciated Simon. I always knew Lauren would get shed loads of votes, blowing all the blokes out the window, but I'm just as happy knowing that I caught what I caught. Payed to fish and share the sessions with friends, raised money for charity, no saved swims, not sponsored which in itself adds a tad more kudos. I never expected to get nominated by The Angling Times, but just like you think British and European captures are different. Fair play to everyone who catches big foreign carp IMO, but for me to catch two British born and bred 60's I just was in the right place at the right time doing the right things. Big up Simon for the Vlog.

I agree entirely Simon.... It's easy to delude yourself fishing midweek your on a level playing field but try fish Saturday and Sunday only and look at your results then.... Martin Clarke all the way.... He's got history and still making history..... 👍

I agree that Lauren should be international carp angler of the year as she’s dove unbelievably. Re UK - catching 2 x uk 60’s is off the charts amazing so wouldn’t argue at all with Martin. When you think of football, player of the season is the most consistent. Difficult to compare like for like with carp angling but food for thought

Its all down to opinions and these are only made with the information we have available to us. With carp fishing at the highest level being so secretive its hard to know how much kudos to give the 'top names'. I read martins book 20 years ago and was blown away with his level of thinking. I dont know the waters or the fish hes caught so my opinion on the merit isnt a good one. Where as a woman coming into a male dominated sport and doing well deserves koudos 👍 its a bit like the british record everyone sees it from a different angle and youll never please everyone. Well done Martin on your fish and well done Lauren 👏 Also Simon well done on a brilliant blog. Ive been reading and listening to you for 20 years and see you as a great well rounded ambassador for carp fishing. 👍 tight lines all and hopefully this makes some sense 😂

Great video Simon. I'm not particularly concerned with titles in any field (or lake!😂) but it would seem to make sense to have a national and international winner! Keep up the good work, I always enjoy your videos!

Agree that it should be “Carp Angler of the Year” for the UK captures and “International Carp Angler of the Year” for overseas. I came runner up in 2022 but didn’t really feel like I should’ve been nominated as my captures were predominantly European captures. Having two competitions would make much more sense. Great vlog 👍🏻

Unfortunately carp angler of the year is about size and regularity of fish caught. I've caught nothing big but I've had the time of my life.I feel like a winner

100% agree the fact that Lauren won that award takes all merit away from it, doubt what Martin caught will ever be achieved again, whilst catching 3 70s for someone in Lauren’s position is really nothing special
@chrisrowley0110 ай бұрын
And I think it is time you won it mate with your simple style of fishing none of this you need this you need that crap and being from the midlands aswell 😊

Box ticking exercise! Fishing lake exclusives overseas as a job. It shouldn’t have even been taken into account. No doubt a cross dressing saucepan will win it next year.
@harleywells28010 ай бұрын
surely it should be connor or scott hatton then ? both have jobs as such. but unlike martin catching stocker known fish they went and pioneered ?

carp angler of the year is always interesting as it is not much more than a popularity contest & completely subjective to each person voting. people carp fish for different reasons & have different targets & objectives - different lakes produce different fish at different weights which are very hard to compare to each other. those fish that MC caught were basically domesticated fish in lakes that have been stuffed full of bait / feed to get to unnatural sizes. great angler but worthy of all of the praise? hmmmmm..... wrt to the first person to catch 2 60's - I know of an angler that caught the wasing parrot a couple of times over 60+ before simon b caught the chertsey fish so he wasn't the first.
@SimonCrow10 ай бұрын
Si was definitely the first to catch them from two different waters

I’m not being funny but here so many amazing anglers that people don’t even know a bean about that don’t crave attention at all that would wipe the floor with some of these ‘ celebrities ‘ period …. I’m not taking anything away from these guys but carp fishing itself is getting a joke to be fair just go and fish and not fish for ‘ clout ‘ just enjoy yourself !!!
@MrRorfac310 ай бұрын
i feel like someone who doesn't get free bait and tackle should get it.
@SimonCrow10 ай бұрын
Maybe rule out discounted bait/tackle too, then no-one can enter it… Unfortunately there is no level playing field in angling.
