Hey Simon. Love your videos. As a Singaporean it’s wonderful to see Singapore from yr eyes. I just rode my bike at Rail/Green corridor on 19/3/22 and a Malaysian asked me about the green forest. That brings me here. Kudos. Looking Forward to your other videos. Will look see. Just saw yr Mcritchie too. At 54 yrs old. Its time for me to appreciate my country more. Buddy, you won me over with your comments about the rain forest. I grew up between NYC and the Colorado Rockies. But I was always pulled in the same direction. Ended up living in Indonesia for 15 years. I’ve been deep in it - in places like Sumatra, Sulawesi, Borneo, and even New Guinea. And there is truly nothing better. It is the most magical place for me. I wouldn’t just say that time spent there is precious, but it’s as if time away is wasted. And I desperately want to return. During national service (armed forces duties) we used to do topo-hikes through these dense forest (sometimes in the middle of the night). No walking on tracks, bashing though the vegetation and the equatorial forest can get pretty nasty on you. There are other similar hikes if you are interested, mostly in the central catchment reserves (upper Pierce reservoir for example) as well as big tranches in the west (used to be reserved for the military, not sure if they are open to civilian uses now)

Have you explored the ruins of Fort Serapong? The underground bunker is a must to explore and there’s a secret entrance to it very few people know about ;) It’s a must for you to go if you’d like to explore the ruins and the forested area of serapong hill. But if you make a KZbin video on it, many will start to flock there then haha😂
@SimonSaysCanada3 жыл бұрын
There are tons of videos on this place (much like Istana Woodbeuk, actually), that is why I haven’t been there yet... Trying to find things that other KZbinrs don’t show, or at least I try to show them differently. I’ll get to Serapong hill at some point - thinking of doing a video about all the remnents of WW2 and the tragic cost it had on SG... Will see!
@dodo53463 жыл бұрын
@@SimonSaysCanada Fort Serapong is actually very large and it consists of hidden underground bunkers etc and the whole fort is built on serapong hill. A local guide said that fort serapong is only 30% explored and the other 70% is either hidden by the overgrown or its there to be explored and found. Serapong hill is a forested area and not many will want to explore other parts of the hill because it is tiring and it can get steep at some areas. They’ve recently put up signboards explaining the history of fort serapong and I think Sentosa has plans to convert it to a hiking trail and that will certainly destroy some of its rustic charm and fun of exploring. So I would suggest you go there asap before it gets converted to a hiking trail!!
