I think its great that you made this video Brad, you get respect from me for maintaining your equipment. And yes, its also good to show tricks of the trade for capturing oil splatter. Regarding leaks from oil filters, the one thing I didn't notice from you, was making sure that you applied a film of oil to the oil rings on the filters. Oil on the rubber seal rings, helps them to make a seal, you wouldn't think so, but it does. And that oil certainly needed changed, I saw how black the oil was.

Well, Ventrac doesn't refine oil or produce it, so most likely it is one of the major refiners of oil that they just made a private label deal. On that note though, it really doesn't matter what manufacture is used as long as it meets required viscosity specs for that type of engine. The decision to spend more or less on it is always subjective. All motor oil is manufactured and refined by a very few refineries. What makes motor oils stand apart from each other are the add packs that are introduced into the trucks before they head out to their respective destinations. There are better oils than others, and that is not based on viscosity. Better equals additive packages. Motor oil is motor oil as far as it's refined. Add packs separate the herds. Always love your vids, Brad. Now we all get to watch you play with garbage. Man, it doesn't get any better than that. 👌

Totally agree, the additive packs are what separate the good from the bad unless you're in the synthetic world, then the composition of the oil comes into play in a big way.

@@GrammarPoliceInvestigations The differences between conventional and synthetic oil are a given. That isn't my point here. Oil is refined the same way regardless of viscosity, whether it be conventional or synthetic, before add packs. Just use what the factory requires. I would always use a synthetic before a conventional anyway, as most people would. Synthetics bond to metals longer/better and offer better lubricity considering the molecular structure. Conventional = Broken Chain bonding vs Synthetic = Straight Chain bonding). I'm not saying this to you personally because I believe you know this. I'm simply clarifying my original post since you brought it up.

I was told that Amsoil is who makes the oil and hydraulic fluid for the name Ventrac. So my last service I used the Amsoil hydraulic fluid for the hydraulics and I liked it, it made the hydraulics quieter than the Ventrac hydraulic oil did. At least that's been my experience with it.

You know it's an old video when there isn't a garbage truck in Brad's driveway.

Quick question. Any issues with arthritis. I'm 59 with bone on bone knee issues. Hurts like hell 24-7. On top of that other side foot plantar pain. Already had a full hip replacement 5 years ago. 146 bi-weekly lawn accounts here in Phoenix, Arizona using a push mower. All the yards are way small for a stander. I work solo but can't hold on any longer. Need to hire. Any issues with pain?
