Excellent recipe and tutorial. Thank you! Bread looks great! I attempted to bake bread last week and it did not go well at all...lol Nice loaf pan. Only well-trained experienced cooks correctly master using Lodge cast iron cookware.

After finding this recipe I had to make it. This recipe came out wonderful it tastes almost like what my grandmother used to make. I did use honey instead of sugar it was very delicious, and my bread texture came out soft and fluffy on the inside with a nice crust. The Lodge cast iron pan was worth running out of the store for.

Just before putting it in the oven, paint the top of the dough with egg so it becomes shiny after baking.

@@TeachaMantoFish Update on the bread- Wow! I give it 5 stars. I gota give that mixer high marks as well. I think you've started a tradition at our house. This is like baking brownies in a cast iron cornbread stick pan, you won't do it any other way and it really is simple.

@@TeachaMantoFish I'm back again refreshing my memory. This will be my third loaf and it is good. This got me to thinking where are the old cast iron loaf pans? I'm a vintage cast iron nerd and I don't see the early 1900s loaf pans. If you see one scarf it up. Individual roll pans and bread stick pans are common. Brings to mind the old term "better than sliced bread". Thanks again for this video.

I’m only cooking for myself and my wife. Can portion size appropriate portions of the dough be vacuum packed and frozen until I’m ready to bake? I have a VacMaster, chamber packer and this looks to be a good way to use my packer to “make ahead and preserve” pizza dough and other stuff. How long might the yeast stay viable when frozen?
@TeachaMantoFish9 ай бұрын
I’ve not done that, but I’ve heard of it being refrigerated.

Do you preheat the oven or put the pan in when it is cold? Also, have your tried sourdough bread?
@TeachaMantoFish18 күн бұрын
@@rogernellis9302 I make the pan warm to rise in, so the dough doesn’t go cold when I put it in to rise.

Great question! Hovering gently and briefly over the gas burner in the stove. I flip and rotate it. It only takes a few seconds in each position to warm it up. Gotta be careful not to get it hot or burn your fingers.
