He is so much less cringe than all the young millennials who look like plastic alien supermodels, and have the most expensive cameras that cost $10,000 and then they don't tell you that they are using a $10,000 cinema camera, and they do extensive editing and color correction. He just films stuff straight out of the camera and does a lot of his stuff with basic lighting control, and good lens selection. And he explains it so much better than the millenials. I watched 100 videos before finding Markus and now I am finally learning.

I've won awards at film fests using clamp lights. I used two with those MASSIVE work-light CFLs you could get at Home Depot, and my kicker was two regular bulbs in a socket splitter. I was (still am actually) using some mid-range DSLRs for most of my shooting and their lowlight performance leaves a lot to be desired, so I opted for the slightly more expensive bulbs. Still use all three of those fixtures (Upgraded the bulbs to smart RGB/WW/CW so I can switch temperatures and use creative color in one fixture, just brought two of them to a commercial shoot last month. Believe it or not the ones from Costco I got don't flicker at 240fps, and they were relatively inexpensive IIRC. I tape diffusers on the front or use them as bounce lights. They fit anywhere and you can hand them off and know they won't get broken, and even if they do it's cheaper to just buy a new one than to fix it! I've had the opportunity to spend money on better lights but it hasn't even crossed my mind to get "better" lighting lol

I used similar clamp lights in the 80s. I painted the outside yellow and the inside white so people would not know they were so cheap. I used them all over Los Angeles (Hollywood) including the screen testing I did for Orion productions and even John Milius. They work and I used them because they were easy, not because I had too. Truthfully, I still do. To put in in perspective, my uncle (George Larson) is the guy that invented the soft box and reflectors we all use and I have lots of those I got for free. If stuff works, and it’s easy, then use it!

I really find him to be one of the best teachers on KZbin. There are so many channels, and they spend all their time reviewing equipment, and never talk about the camera techniques, it's really frustrating. I mean, the lighting is far more important than the equipment. Bad lighting ruins the whole image, even with an expensive camera.

Hi Markus, for the AD200 I recommend the AD-S17 diffuser, something like $15, it gives excellent results, I originally bought it as I was asked to take pictures of a shop interior for a client of mine, then realised how useful and convenient it can be for shooting on location with models, either as a fill lights or even main lights; very low power and close to the subject and it mimics a soft box or high power from a few meters away and it becomes an overcast day diffused light.....

Yep, those Home Depot reflectors are what I use in my WFH online meeting setup. Gl asses add complexity, need lights higher and farther to the sides. Started with three, added two more & use 1 layer of white kitchen garbage bag over each as a diffuser. Also spread a garbage bag under the monitor and keyboard to reflect up and fill shadows. I get compliments all the time on my "lighting," hahaha.
