The cheapest I could find 93% Ground beef in the USA is $6.62 per pound, 14 OZ is $5.72 Onion - $0.41 Carrot - $0.15 Celery - $0.16 Peas - $0.32 Buying tomato paste in a tube cost 5 times more than buying it in a can so I would use an oz. and freeze the rest at $0.12. Beef cube - $0.14 Worcester sauce - $0.06(Lea & Perrins was 4 times more expense) Potato - $0.10 Butter - $0.15 Cream - $0.30 Which adds up to $7.63/4 or about $1.91 per serving US or 1.46 pounds. Interesting how much cheaper food is in the UK.

Yes a good local butcher may by a little cheaper and the veg from a fruit and veg shop or market stall is always cheaper than the supermarkets. Thanks.

I really like your videos and recipes. But I beg you, replace those chipped, peeling non stick pots and pand with some inexpensive stainless steel. There has been research into the danger of using Teflon whole, let alone chipped and peeling. It is leeching forever chemicals. Such as PFAS into the food, which is carcinogenic.

You can also make this for vegetarians with lentils to replace the meat. Even cheaper too.

Yes lentils would make a good vegetarian option. Thanks.

Good to see you guys still have reasonable food prices. In socialist Canada that would cost double

The propaganda around the word 'socialist' is out of control. Thinking that any Western developed nation is anything close to socialist, is delusional. The wealthy, who own all the media and most of the politicians have indoctrinated people to such an extent, that they can continue to pick your pockets, and you will still keep voting for them. smh

@@mrdanforth3744pray tell what government policies make it cost double? If anything, stuff would be cheaper if Canada were actually socialist. The guy sounds like he's just spewing buzzwords, if you want someone to blame for high prices blame the grocers posting record profits every year. I've been able to get low priced groceries here if I pick and choose the store, if you go to Shoppers or Saveon exclusively then that's on you and any high prices you pay are the result of an idiot tax.

@@sanjeev.rao3791I'm in California in the US. My costs for his recipes are usually 3-4 times his cost. I just laugh and let Dave know what I just paid for an onion or such. It is what it is. 😅
