I did this at my River home and used plastic drums instead of paying $95.00 for each 4 foot section of Aeration that Septic Company charged at my home in town, that septic system cost me$10,000 after replacing entire system. I avoided inspections at river home. These drums are essentially the same thing at a fraction of the cost Septic Companies rip you off with. This is great if you can avoid health department regulations and inspections. Great job! Hope folks learn they can save money doing this with their septic tank as well.

Well heck that's smart, what a cool idea, water the garden and reduce the volume going into septic at the same time.

Excellent idea.. This kind of gardening is sooooo important. Trail of all kinds. We had white picket fencing installed seven years ago. And since we are now on what's a main toad, due to district and business change. We had to come up with disguised gardening. To keep the city and neighbors from complaining. You'll be amazed at how folks don't know plants, thank God. The last three years, we've planted our sweet potatoes, right out front. He's allowed the vines to go all along the fence. Those beautiful purple blooms are stunning on the white fence. Last year. we planted okra, around some solar pole lights. We get all kinds of compliments on our beautiful flowers. Lol. And when he dug up the tubers last year, one of the neighbors said.. They sort of look like sweet potatoes. But. everyone knows they grow on trees. And this man, is older than we are. So, our potatoes and okra. is safe for now.. Well see what we can ease in somewhere next growing season. Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to your results.

Around the 8:30 mark you can really see the soil differences, or basically how deep the tiller on the tractor has worked the soil. I have a smaller tractor with matching tiller and notice that it really only gets down 6-8 inches, same with my walk behind tiller. I bought the Famers broadfork and am working my gardens with it, and breaking into that lower clay area. I noticed in my garden that the roots hit that layer and turn sideways, meaning that they are not using soil below 8 inches. The broadfork is 16 inches, and when I use it it really brings that clay up and the compost and dark soil go down deep. So my point is, even with a tractor, I think special hand tools have their purpose if you don't mind using a little elbow grease.

Loved the component parts of this video. In a LCE as need for removal grey water this gives some useful info. Plant hydration is so important. I have all component parts for three patterns. Solar deep well with backup parts to totally redo well two more times if needed, with backup battery systems for pump. Have water tanks with all downspout and drainage components to harvest rainwater from house and barn on elevated platforms to allow gravity feed to gardens. Also a Bison hand pump by barn for another backup, springs, running branch, and lastly the Yellow River. Water is critical. Built a similar hotbox system this past fall but with 32 inch tall sides to allow growing cool weather food plants all year. A friend from church is giving me some rolls of polycarbonate clear sheeting used to build wind turbine blades. I will be experimenting on building similar framed bed as you did but likely 18 to 24 inches tall to accommodate greater plant height. All these things are to help sustain folks in community if things nosedive in the next 5 to 10 years. If nothing happens it was fun playing with the LEGOS.

Excellent, could have used that last year when we had quite a drought after too much rain - can't seem to win some gardening years. Moderating the situation is great. I am also putting a water collection system in for my greenhouse which has a gutter system. It will sure save a lot of effort and time with the heated hose and the garage and the greenhouse - Whew - tired just thinking about it. And, it will hold some temperature also in the winter (and maybe summer). YEA! Great ideas I get from your videos even though not as far south as you are.

Good work, Danny and Wanda! A great idea to keep the ground moist during draughts . I'm putting a diversion pipe under the house to let my gray water drain onto the ground beside my septic tank so the washing machine water wont go in it and kill the bacteria, and so it'll never overflow.

Will the water coming out the pipe going into your barrel system dig itself a hole as it splashes in there? I guess it depends on the flow but the pipe sits at the top of where it discharges. That's what leads me to believe it will dig itself a hole over time.

You said that this is for the off grid cabin....Those of us who inspire to live that life full time would like to know the life span of a system like this system on a well and/or using rain water. Also are there codes for this sort of thing or can you just do one up on your place? Thanks, Chuck.
