A DIY heater pack just get 2 double AA or triple AAA and alluminim foil and wrap it around the 2 battery and it will warm up your hand WARNING Dont leave the battery in the alluminim foil for to long or it will shortend out the battery causeing it to spark into flames.

Regarding #17: Instead of live AC, connect six 9v radio batteries in series. 54 volts DC, high internal resistance in batteries limits current. You might get a tingle, but you will survive. Connect the 'target' metal to the positive side of the batteries, the negative connection is made to the pencil GRAPHITE. Sorry for shouting. Graphite. Proceed to mark the target metal. Light contact, should spark a tiny bit, be patient.

Scoutswell No pencils cores the actual particles source were made of lead now its graphite both are conductors so on this attribute the distinguishing gets lost as the shown application works based on this. Graphite as one form of pure carbon is part of some steel in varying amounts so it easily can be transfered without much effort. Well in a pencil there there are some more compounds otherwise the core would be to brittle so it is with pure steel (softer not brittle) making it steel.

One of my favorite life-hacks: If you have silver jewelry or real silverware, you're probably familiar with the brown tarnish that will collect on them over time, and by exposure to air and skin. Unfortunately, silver tarnish removers are nasty and foul-smelling chemicals that require scrubbing off the tarnish, usually also removing some precious silver in the process. But did you know that you can remove all that tarnish in moments, with stuff I guarantee you have in your cupboard, using the power of chemistry? Simply place a sheet of aluminum foil (shiny side up) at the bottom of a flat shallow glass container like a cake pan. Place your silver items onto the foil, making sure they're touching it but not each other. Bring eight cups of water and a spoonful of baking soda to a boil, and carefully pour the mixture into the container, deep enough to cover the silver items. In only a few seconds, a chemical reaction will cause the tarnish atoms to form a solution in the water, and become electrically attracted to the aluminum. The silver items will be left shiny and new, no scrubbing or harsh chemicals required.

Batteries: If you have a conventional (incandescent), or halogen flashlight, or any device that requires a battery that is in a nearly fully charged state to work effectively, you can replace them with new batteries, and put the old batteries in a device that will run them down to the bitter end. For example, a mouse, track pad, wireless keyboard, clock etc. Especially practical for 9v batteries as they are rather expensive. After one year, you can replace the battery in your smoke detector and install the old one in your digital scale, alarm clock, portable radio, or whatever.

I am amazed that +Be Amazed keeps referring to a well known product like heat-shrink tubing as "a rubber pencil sleeve." WTF is that? Do you honestly think that heat-shrink tubing was designed as a grip-enhancer for a #2 Ticonderoga pencil? (hint: it is for insulating and sealing exposed electrical connections. Which you obviously already know, as that is what you use it for repeatedly in the video, so why the strange re-naming?) I don't think I've heard tires referred to as "rubber wheel socks" FWIW

You seriously DO NOT want to electroplate with graphite that way! A much safer way is to use 6 or 8 9-volt batteries in series (Plug the + positives into the - negatives until in a chain) attach a wire to the two exposed terminals (+?-) run the positive to the metal you'll be marking and the negative to the graphite on the pencil. This is a MUCH safer way without the danger of electrocution or fire. Yes, this does take a bit longer, but you'll still get the job done.

There are exceptions like Iron and Zinc tho... Also,i think Great Britain needs to either go Metric or Imperial. Since they were part of EU not so long ago, they were forced to use Metric for most things, but it is really bad to see people doing things like indicating the height in Meters and then weight in Pounds or worse stones. I think the Britain is really strange country, since they don't use Euro, don't use Metric, drives on the left side of the road and many other things.

I haven't read all the comments so forgive me if someone has already posted this. If you are unsure if an egg is boiled or raw, simply spin it on either end. A boiled egg spins like a top where a raw egg makes about one turn before falling over. We use this trick all the time in our kitchen. It's saved me some embarrassment and clean up more than once.

That t-shirt and socks trick is great for people who loves to widen their socks so that they slide down before you're even left your home.

about 60 or 70% of these (tips, in these types of videos) we all knew about at some point in our lives (at least I do). I feel sorry for those who cant think out of the box and improvise. but the electric pencil was pretty neat. no more stolen snap-on tools for me! :) oh wait, i for got to say i used a 10$ dremel tool for engraving my name. lol stupid me for not destroying a electric cable and a lightbulb and going through the work of making that ingenious death trap.

Ingenious deathtrap? Sheer poetry! Now, watch it again, AND PROTEST! Along with a "dislike", this was my comment: ...."DANGER !!! Oral Instructions for pencil etching on metal are WRONG! And this is [disclaimer] NOT FOR CHILDREN. I've typed what I believe what might possibly be considered by some to be [disclaimer] a corrected, and COMPLETE version of the oral instructions that [disclaimer] I heard in this video, so READ THIS WHOLE COMMENT... In the video it seems to work, but does not show every step, and the oral instructions are [disclaimer] completely WRONG! In the video the voice says "Once the (extension cord?) wires are exposed, connect THEM to the pencil, then to light bulb..." OH HELL NO !!! Do that and [disclaimer] you will possibly electrocute yourself, damage your house's electrical circuit, cause a small fire, or maybe a BIG fire and burn your town to the ground. To achieve the result shown at video's end, and "danger" in capital letters doesn't faze you, [disclaimer] well, if I were going to try to do this, I would probably DO IT THIS WAY. >>>Connect [EXTREME DISCLAIMER] only ONE of the two extension cord wires to the pencil, and connect the other to one of the two contacts on the light bulb socket. Now take the wire with the clamp or alligator clip on one end and attach the free end of that wire to the second contact on the light bulb socket. BEFORE you plug it in, attach the clamp/clip to the piece of metal you want to etch. Then plug it in. You [disclaimer] complete the electrical circuit by touching the pencil tip to the metal piece the clamp/clip is attached to. MAYBE you won't throw a breaker, or with older wiring, BLOW A FUSE and/or start a fire, or electrocute yourself. THINK ABOUT THIS: Every time you touch the pencil tip to the metal, IT BURNS THE METAL... If you touch anything carrying an electric current YOU WILL GET SHOCKED. So do be careful. A final note... There is SO VERY MUCH wrong with a public post like this, no warnings like mine, no respect for the danger involved, I mean, Children could watch this and try it! And so much more. Why don't you viewers COMPLAIN about crap like this??? Do you simply not care? Well, some of us do. ~ David, [disclaimer] a.k.a. the ConnMan. P.S. If someone is harmed by this video, winning your lawsuit will be easy, as the video's poster did not apply disclaimers liberally and profusely. Wake up, KZbin!" ...Just sayin'..

I think a soldering iron could better and safer than a lightbulb pencil to write on metal
