Aquafresh re-introduced striped toothpaste. "Stripe" brand toothpaste was around for years starting in the 1950's and then seemingly just disappeared. Then someone started putting "flecks" in toothpaste and suddenly, we had striped toothpaste, again, Aquafresh. Stripe was very pretty and aromatic. It was also a bit of a ripoff because the stripes usually ran out about halfway through a tube.

I definitely remember striped toothpaste before '75. Also, the snorkel thing is only partly right. A long snorkel would not let you go very deep, as they say, but it would also be dangerous if it filled with water (and they do) because it would be hard to clear the water and thn you wouldn't be able to breathe in.

I always see AquaFresh mentioned as the first to have striped toothpaste. But I remember seeing... I think it was Pepsident, with just red stripes in the later 60s (like '67-8) at my granddad's place. We were Crest people, but used Gramp's toothpaste when staying there, and I remember fairly clearly the red stripes, and wondered how they did it. My dad explained about the different bladders inside the tube (with a little more time, I'd likely have cut the tube open, as was my MO with all unknown devices). No one else remembers this, so I must be wrong. Or maybe this was some kind of test marketing sample, I don't know. And then when AquaFresh came out years later, I remember thinking how I didn't care for the blue stripe, and it still bothers me today!

You are mistaken about the origin of stripes in toothpaste. Aquafresh was not the first. In the late 50's, early 60's there was Stripe toothpaste. It was white with red stripes going through it.

You made a mistake about the King of Hearts. The card is mirrored from top to bottom. Each mirrored side only has two hands: one holding the sword, and one not holding the sword. That "second hand" that you were referring to was from the bottom side of the card.

#7 is not the only reason. Yes, a diver would have a hard time drawing breath vs. the water pressure. But it fails to mention that also as the diver breathes out, the carbon dioxide would fill the lower portion of the tube. CO2 has a molecular mass of 44, while O2 has 32, meaning that in similar volume and compression of mass, CO2 is heavier. Past 2 feet (60 centimeters) the lungs would not have the requisite volume to expel the CO2 with enough force to clear the CO2 and leave a vacuum that would immediately fill with breatheable air.

If you've never had in n out.... You're missing out... They have 3 meals on their menu... Burger, cheese burger and double cheeseburger. If it makes any sense they are the most "FRESH" Fast food burgers you'll ever have. Back in the day before scuba tanks we used to put people in full body suits similar to astronaut suits to do what was considered deep sea diving. This was done while a hose ran to the top to provide air. McFlurrey straws also allow air to go into the straw while you push it down. Lay's potato chips bags are half air. It is supposed to protect the product. Also it keeps the bag standing straight up on the shelf for appearances.

Another thing about the toothpastes is that you don't need to put so much paste like in the ads; just a small blob is enough to go around for one brushing. The ads made it seem like you need to put a lot of toothpaste so that you would deplete the whole tube quickly so you'd need to buy again.

The Mc Furry spoon hallow bottom is designed to reduce material costs and attach to the mixing machine. The fact the you can use it as a straw was an auxiliary side effect and there is print on the boxing for the spoons that discourage doing this as the retention tab can become damaged during mixing and be accidentally inhaled. As a former employee any employee smart enough to have read the warning labels or paid attention during training is holding their breath when we saw you using it as a straw because people have choked on that tab before.

Actually, blue is probably used in toothpastes, because it sits nearly opposite from yellow (orange really) on the color wheel, and will make your teeth temporarily appear whiter. Bluing is also used in making stained whites appear whiter by adding a bit of blue dye to the garment.
