@@TJtoho meh. It’s ok. But not musical. He’s choppy through the phrase. Meaning it isn’t connected breath wise. Then when he goes to the top the instruments overpower him. The sound recording engineer is actually trying to help him by mixing the voice and instrumental sound equally. Not enough raw power for me.

Have you heard the lead singer of Shinedown do his acoustic version? That will grab your attention real quick and leave you in chills and humming the song for the rest the day. That man is amazing as well... But Chris Stapleton is right there with him. They are both outstanding and know how to make you feel the music the way it was meant to be heard.

This was absolutely incredible. This song has never hit the same without Ronnie behind the mic, but Chris sang one of the greatest songs ever with some extra soul that just pulls you in. There will never be another Ronnie Van Zant, but this was beautifully done.

Skynyrd is my fav band of all time… though I’m only 20 I’ve seen them live 4 times. (Some of the members are different now obviously). But I cry like a baby each time I see them. I also love Chris Stapleton and seeing him play this song was amazing and also made me cry.

I SAW Ronnie and the Boys do this in 1973 down in Hog town. NEVER forgot the passion in Ronnie's voice while he sang this. One of the most amazing concerts I have EVER seen and I've seen a few. The damn goosebumps looked like WELTS!! I've seen Johnny do this too but CHRIS has a quality in his voice VERY similar to RONNIE and THAT is saying something. Has NOT been anyone since Ronnie. CHRIS thank you for raising those damn WELTS again. Got tears STREAMING!!!

We first saw Skynyd as the warm up band for the Who in St Louis in 1973.... We flatlanders were down there to see the Who play during the Quadrophenia tour....... Nobody in our area had heard Ronnie and the band before..... When we got back, I was the first to get their record--- Played it many times at full volume!!!!! After all, I am a big Who fan!!!! Saw them 3x live before that fateful day in Oct of 1977..........

I seen L.S. in Dec,1976. Kiel,aud. st.louis mo. Missed ed king, Steve Gaines.just joined Great show.then 10 yrs later seen them at the same venue with the great Ed king. Ronnie's hat was on the Mike stand while they played freebird no one sang, they brought Allen Collins out in a wheelchair he didn't play though a sad but great show Ronnie was great but so were the other guys. I love the "skynard"☮️🎸

I was watching a bit on Ray Charles today. Amazing artist who crossed all sorts of genres. Early rock, gospel, R&B, huge country artist, pop. Definitely on my Mt. Rushmore of musicians. I was the backstage chef at Meadowbrook (BNHP) this was one of the best shows ever. Not only is Chris musical perfection, he is a kind, warm, sweet amazing family man. Needle to say I fell in love with him that day. I also impinged my sciatic nerve and was on the floor of my house writhing in pain like a lunatic about 6 hours before this actually happened. So glad I was able to pull it togther. Incredible experience ✌❤

Skynyrd is my absolute favorite band and I've seen many covers of this song and most of em disappointed me because it takes someone that's got the soul in em to bring this song to life and honestly this is the first time I've seen it and feel so comfortable knowing Ronnie and all of the other ones are saying Finally..... Someone doing our songs justice . And I just saw that this video cuts off before it's even over with . Maybe it wasn't whoever's fault that posted it but if it was....man at least have a little respect for Chris Stapleton and his band . I usually cringe a little when I see a cover of thi song. This one made me smile. My favorite song, now one of my favorite versions.
