@@TJtoho meh. It’s ok. But not musical. He’s choppy through the phrase. Meaning it isn’t connected breath wise. Then when he goes to the top the instruments overpower him. The sound recording engineer is actually trying to help him by mixing the voice and instrumental sound equally. Not enough raw power for me.

Chris Stapleton is a generational artist. No matter if he chooses to perform an original or a cover he makes it his own and we are left in awe of the talent. Thank-you, Chris, never change, be yourself and we will be the beneficiary.

Have you heard the lead singer of Shinedown do his acoustic version? That will grab your attention real quick and leave you in chills and humming the song for the rest the day. That man is amazing as well... But Chris Stapleton is right there with him. They are both outstanding and know how to make you feel the music the way it was meant to be heard.

I SAW Ronnie and the Boys do this in 1973 down in Hog town. NEVER forgot the passion in Ronnie's voice while he sang this. One of the most amazing concerts I have EVER seen and I've seen a few. The damn goosebumps looked like WELTS!! I've seen Johnny do this too but CHRIS has a quality in his voice VERY similar to RONNIE and THAT is saying something. Has NOT been anyone since Ronnie. CHRIS thank you for raising those damn WELTS again. Got tears STREAMING!!!

We first saw Skynyd as the warm up band for the Who in St Louis in 1973.... We flatlanders were down there to see the Who play during the Quadrophenia tour....... Nobody in our area had heard Ronnie and the band before..... When we got back, I was the first to get their record--- Played it many times at full volume!!!!! After all, I am a big Who fan!!!! Saw them 3x live before that fateful day in Oct of 1977..........

Skynyrd is my absolute favorite band and I've seen many covers of this song and most of em disappointed me because it takes someone that's got the soul in em to bring this song to life and honestly this is the first time I've seen it and feel so comfortable knowing Ronnie and all of the other ones are saying Finally..... Someone doing our songs justice . And I just saw that this video cuts off before it's even over with . Maybe it wasn't whoever's fault that posted it but if it was....man at least have a little respect for Chris Stapleton and his band . This is hands down the best cover I've ever seen of Simple Man and I take things serious especially when it comes to things like this . And if it wasn't your fault accept my apologies.

saw them do this tune at Anaheim Stadium about a month or so before the plane crash. it still rates as the funnest concert i've been to...before or since. some people can do great covers of this song but never really GET what the tune's about. Chris gets it.
