Finally! Someone who feels about food and cooking the same way I do❤ I find the number one roadblock to healthy and intentional meals for me, is the inefficiency of following recipes and using too many ingredients. Thank you for this!!

Love that you put the Tupperware out at the same time as serving the dinner portions. It just makes so much sense.

Hahahaha, fellow INTJ here. I had worked my way down to the exact same meal planning system - five dinners to allow for eating away from home, eating dinner leftovers for lunch, and a grab-and-go easy breakfast. I'd even split my husband and I into the prep person and the cooking person. 😂 My eating pattern is mostly vegan, for environmental reasons, so do still have to wade through recipes occasionally as veggie food often requires a little more effort to be satisfying. Doing my part to mitigate future climate disaster is one of my big goals, though, so it suits me.

Love this system. My biggest take away is to use everything purchased for the meal and having leftovers rather than storing it and figuring out what to do with it.

You are speaking my language! I’m always thinking about efficiency and have planned my shopping list for my route through the store. I love that you brought up mise en place… it reminds me of the productivity book: “Work Clean” so helpful to think of the set-up session, then the do/work session! Thanks for another great video!

I really like the idea of already separating dinner and leftovers. We usually end up overeating and I have very little leftover which means I have to cook lunch for at least one person.

🤯🤯this are simple concepts that I haven’t seen anywhere else. I struggle with eating healthy and meal prepping. I like recipes but not for every day, just if I’m in the mood to cook which isn’t often. I always think cooking is this huge thing that takes too much time and involves too many ingredients so I end up eating out (very unhealthy food), or just making something really fast that consists mainly of carbohydrates and dairy. I never eat protein, vegetables or fruits 🤦🏼‍♀️ thanks for the tips!

Great tip to have knee cooking person and one chopping. Much easier to keep things clear on who does what. Otherwise we are always having to check, did you salt the water, etc.

I like this system and plan to try it. I hate cooking dinner and like to keep at 15 mins to put together.

I am much more time hungry….. I choose a sauce jar eg. Black bean or basil & tomato to cook my frozen quoin fillets in ( scary how like chicken they are) then a few veg. Boil the kettle for my carb ( cous cous) fills me up & so quick. While it’s on the top of the gas for about 15 mins I prep the washing up water and have a coffee and enter the recipe in my net diary for 5 portions and it calculates the calories per tub… oh I peel some apples and stew them while it’s all simmering. Serving to the Tupperware along with the plates is brilliant😄 I too keep components stocked that can be mixed and matched...as opposed to planning specific meals or recipes. Makes things easier...especially since i don't really like cooking. 😳 i just figured out what's for dinner tonight!😂 Thanks!!!

I am so glad you shared this. I have been trying to meal plan for a year. Its always been a should task especially when everyone is hungry and there is nothing but snacks to eat. Cooking is not really my thing and searching for meals is stressful. I am excited to try your method.

So since I’m on my own this year (my partner is gone out of the country for work), I’ve decided to try planning my meals a month in advance. A full cooked meal can usually feed me for 3-4 days, so I pick two recipes (similar to you: protein, carb, veggies) for each week and alternate which one I eat each day. My plan is to decide what two meals per week I’m going to make for the whole month and then go grocery shopping just for what I need based on those choices.

this is another thing i've been wanting to master- thanks Alexis! i had bought a weekly meal plan / shopping list magnet pad for the fridge, and that can totally fit into this simplified system. also loved the idea of designating a prepping station and a cooking station for when there's two of us in the kitchen. 🥑🥑

This is a game changer and this video came at the right time. I was just telling my bf about step 1 and I've already been doing step 2. Step 3 is exactly what I needed and it makes so much sense. I'm definitely implementing this immediately. Thank you so much for this. ❤ Ps meal planning consistently was also one of my 24 goals for the year.

I like the Milk For Us app for grocery shopping. It automatically sorts items by section, but you can also go in and manually update what aisle each item belongs to (and I'm pretty sure you can do this for multiple stores). Love this system. I'm looking forward to implementing something like it!

The dreaded daily text at about 3:15…what do you want for supper? I like the idea of a 4 item meal and not necessarily following a recipe!

Wow, I want to try this. Thank you for sharing! Question - when do you grocery shop when you do go to shop? Do you do it weekly and which day of the week usually?

I meal plan and grocery shop weekly! I typically meal plan on Saturday afternoon and then do an online grocery order Sunday afternoon to come in around 3ish so that I'm ready to cook Sunday night. If I grocery shop in person, it's typically Saturday since we have busy Sundays.

The grocery store app is great but they want you to be lost so you do more impulse shopping.
